Howard Courant-Citizen
June 27, 1957

A number of Howard friends were in Grenola last Sunday afternoon to attend the Golden Wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. L. Miller, held at their home in that city.  They were married in Grenola on June 5, 1907, and have lived in Elk county all their lives.  Mrs. Miller was Miss Lulu Brown before her marriage.  They lived in Howard for several years while Lee was county clerk and later in the First National Bank, also at Longton, where Lee was a teacher in the city school.  The rest of their lives has been spent at Grenola.

Many friends from far and near were present for the reception to honor this popular couple.  In the receiving line with then were their son and family, Dr. and Mrs. Gerald L. Miller, Jerry and Sheila, of Kansas City, Missouri, and their daughter's family, Bill Stoskopf and two children, Robert and Julia Ann, of Kansas City, Kansas; his sister, Miss Stoskopf, of Kansas City, Kansas, also Mr. Miller's sister sister, Mrs. Wallace Brockett of Achinson.  Mrs. Stoskopf, who was Jean Miller, passed away two years ago.

The rooms were beautifully decorated in gold roses.  The bridal table was covered with a white linen cloth, centered with a two-tiered wedding cake in white and gold trim, topped by a miniature bride and groom.  The lovely cake was encircled by  low crystal candle holders with gold candles, tied with gold ribbon.

Mrs. Ernest Brown and Mrs. Harold Welborn served punch, cake, mints and nut, all in keeping with the color scheme.  On the buffet was a huge floral arrangement of gold roses.

The honored couple received many beautiful gifts, telegrams, and phone calls from relatives and friends.
