Virginia N. McCulley, age 85, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.  Virginia was born in Wayside, Kansas on November 29, 1923, to Roy Lincoln and Vida Naomi May (Hadley) Furnas.

Virginia was from Elk City, then moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she lived for over 20 years.  She lived in Howard, Kansas for 8 years and moved to Wichita in 2002.  On December 4, 1947, Virginia married Charles E. McCulley Jr. in Independence, Kansas.  They were married for 58 years until his death on February 3, 2006.  

Virginia loved to travel.  She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and visiting casinos which she just returned from Las Vegas this past November  She also enjoyed embroidery work and cooking.  Virginia was known as a good cook, and she made the best rolls and homemade noodles  She was a loving grandmother and will be greatly missed by all of he family.

Virginia is survived by two sons, Rex McCulley of Wichita, Kansas and Charles McCulley III of Onaga, Kansas; two daughters, Sandra Dunham of Wichita, Kansas and Charlotte Rowe of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Marcilee Wilkinson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Karen Sailor of Nevada, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Carol, Cheryl, Carrie, Cathryn, Charlie, Emily, and Barbara; and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, two brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2009 AT Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas with Pastor Terry Marta officiating.  Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association and may be left in care of th funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home, Howard, Kansas.
