Jonathan Walter "Walt" Frazier, 76 of Howard, died Nov. 6, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Oak Valley, to Jacob Washington and Laura Huffaker Frazier.  He attended school and grew to manhood in the Longton and Oak Valley communities.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Nov. 14, 1945, he married Velda L. McKenzie at Stockton.  He began work with the Chevron Oil Co. in 1946.

He lived in Albuquerque, N.M., Midland, Texas and Lubbock, Texas and was finally transfered to Socorro, N.M. in 1968.

On Jan. 10, 1976, he retired from Chevron, and the following month in February of 1976, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velda.

In 1979, he moved to Howard.  He married Julia "Judy" M. Parker Siever on March 29, 1980, at Howard.

In September of 1990, he entered Howard TWilight Manor Nusring Home due to ill health.

He was a member of Carter-Rader American Legion Post #149 at Howard.

Survivors include his wife, Julia of Howard; two daughters, Sharon Hicks of Grants, N.M., and Debby Olguin of Socorro, N.M.; two sisters, Ann Ames of Moline and Mary Mason of Stockton' and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Grace lawn Cemetery in Howard with Rev. LaDonna Carey of the Moline United Methodist Church officiating.

Military services will be conducted by the Carter-Rader American Legion Post #149.

A memorial has been established with the Carter-Rader American Legion Post #149.  Contributions may be left at the Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard.
