GERTIE'S APPLE CAKE

Gertie being my step-mother.

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup. butter
1 egg
2 or 3 apples (peeled and chopped)
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
bake 45 minutes at 350

Sauce:
1/2 cup oleo
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cream (canned milk)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
cook till thick


That's exactly as her recipe was written.  I mix the cake in the normal manner, creaming the sugar, butter and egg then add the other ingredients.   You'll have to spread the mix in your baking dish.  I also grease my baking dish.  This will not look like your run of the mill cake so don't be afraid you've done something wrong.  Serve the sauce warm.
