The following article was in the Looking Back section of the Chanute Tribune today.  Here is a good policy that I think we ought to bring back nationwide.

75 years ago (1932)

Transients were given notice today that, in Chanute, they will be required to work if they are to eat, just the same as the unemployed local residents. Work is available at the swimming pool construction site, or chopping wood at the municipal wood pile.
