                                          GERMAN CHOCOLATE PIE

1bar German's sweet chocolate                            1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup (1/2stick) margarine                              2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk                       1 teaspoon vanilla  extract
1 1/2 cups sugar                                              1 /1/3 cups flaked coconut
3 tablespoons cornstarch                                   1/2 cup pecans
                                                                     1 unbaked (9 or 10-inch) pie shells

Melt the chocolate and margarine in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Pour into a bowl and stir in the evaporated milk.  Combine the sugar, cornstarch and salt in a separate bowl and mix well.  Add to the chocolate mixture and stir to mix well. Stir in the eggs.  Fold in the vanilla, coconut and pecans.  Pour into the pie shell.  Bake at 375 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.  Cover the edges of the crust  with foil while baking if the crust becomes too brown.  Remove to a wire rack to cool.
Yields: 6 to 8 servings

now, darla, you stop that - it's unfair to put all these delicious sounding recipes on this forum.  Not only is Marvin diabetic, but I'm OVERWEIGHT.... may have to try them for a holiday meal, tho, and share them.

No, don't stop! That one sounds yummy too. One piece for Al, one small piece for me and the rest can go to my firefighters. They devour anything brought in, even green frawg soup. They love good food.

Marvin is diabetic??!!??
When in the heck did that happen, Flo?
Bless his heart...................

about 2 months ago.  Type II - so far diet and pills seem to be keeping it in check. But you know how he likes his sweets.   His next dr. visit is the first part of August. How much you want to bet if there's hay to bale, he cancels the appointment.

I can feel for Marvin. I was diagnosed as type II a couple of years ago. I cleaned up my eating act a little, ate better, lost some weight. So far, I've been able to stay clean on diet. It sure beats the alternative.

No bets here.  I have been in the hay field with him.. remember?
He is a maniac! LOL

But you have to look a long ways before you find anyone who bales a prettier, tighter bale of hay than Marvin.!

But the hay will be there when he gets home.. ( It isn't going anywhere  ::) )
................but  he might not be.. so he better get his hind end to the appt.!
( Tell him that's a direct order from his ex sister in law.. )
