Edwanna Lillian "Susie" Roe, age 79, of Grenola, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Rest Haven in Winfield, Kansas.  She was born February 28, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas to James Edgar and Ona Bea Lillian (Graham) Hyatt.

At a young age, Susie's father passed away and her mother remarried to James Richard Moore.  They then moved to the rural Burden, Kansas area where she continued her education and graduated from high school there. 

On March 3, 1952, Susie was united in marriage to Donald Eugene "Don" Roe in Grenola, Kansas.  This union lasted 58 years until his passing in June 2020.  Together they had one son, Bret Cody Roe of Wichita, Kansas. 

Soon after their marriage, Don and Susie moved to Colorado to work on a ranch for a short time.  They eventually mvoed back to the Grenola area where they worked on the Eagle Head Ranch for 30+ years.  During that time, Susie worked several years at the Binney & Smith Crayola Factory in Winfield, Kasnas. 

Susie was a survivor of Lymphoma and Stage 3 liver cancer.  That says a lot for the fighter she was.  In the early 1990s, Don and Susie moved to theri own small ranch north of  Grenola where they eventually retired.

Susie is survived by her son, Bret Roe of Wichita, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don.

Memorial service to honor Susie will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas..  Memorial contributiona are suggested to the Grenola Senior Ceneter and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 has been entrusted with arrangements.
