Leslie Ray Wolfe, age 85, of Longton, Kansas, passed away on January 1, 2022 at his home.  He was born April 8, 1936 in Chautauqua County, Kansas to Leslie Augustus Wolfe and Rosa Belle (Watson) Wolfe. 

Ray graduated from Sedan High School in Sedan, Kansas.  He then took drafting classes at Chicago Tech.  He started working at Phillips Petroleum as a draftsman prior to pursuing his oilfield career.  On July 27, 1986, Ray married Melodee Kaye Stewart in Coffeyville, Kansas.  They made their home in rural Chautauqua County, Kansas. 

Throughout his life, Ray ranched many different types of livestock and farmed.  He also was the owner/operator of Wolfe Family Farms, running heavy machinery, and building fence.  He was also a fence builder for E. C. Mullendore.  He was an avid coon hunter and founded the Ark Valley Bluetick Coon Hunter Association, winning many coon hunting trophies.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, and visiting with friends.  Ray felt his biggest accomplishment in life was his chidlren.  His overall favorite thing to do was spend time with his grandchidren and great-grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his wife, Melodee Wolfe of the home in Longton, Kansas; his daughters, Patty (Aaron) Hammer of Parsons, Kansas, Marilyn (Donald) Simpson of Peru, Kasnas, Janet (Dallas) Hartley of Chautauqua, Kansas, and Amy Samples of Wichita, Kansas; his sons, Mike (Cherisse) Wolfe of Independence, Kansas, Leslie (Rachel) Wolfe of Alva, Oklahoma, and Jeremy (Darla) Samples of Coffeyville, Kansas; 26 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Augustus and Rosa Belle Wolfe; his brothers, Larry Wolfe and Dale Wolfe; his sisters, Bonnie Munday and Bernyce Campbell; his sons, Roy Wolfe and Jimmy Wolfe; his grandson, Robert Simpson; and his great-granddaughter, Remmington Jennings.

Graveside services were held on January 8, 2022 at the Longton Cemetery in Longton, Kansass with Brother Kevin Fogerty of the Chautauqua Baptist Church officiating.   Dickens Family Funeral Home of Sedan, Kasnas was entrusted with arrangements.  To leave a message for the family online, please go to www.dickensfuneral.com.
