James Andrew Pass, Jr., better known as A.J. , passed away in his home on May 6, 2021 at the age of 35.  He was born on March 17, 1986 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to James A. and Christina A. Pass but grew up in Chanute, Kansas.  He graduated from Chanute High School and went on to Neosho County Community College and Pittsburg State University.

A.J. was an apprentice plumber and HVAC installer but had many trades.  He enjoyed his children, working on vehicles, mudding, fishing, camping, and nature.  He loved going on walks or watching The Three Stooges.  He was a homebody and loved being there with his family or sitting around a bonfire or by a creek.

A.J. is survived by his parents, James A. and Christina M. Pass of Chanute, Kansas; brothers, Gene, Cody, Charles, and Zeb Pass, all of Chanute, Kansas; his daughters, Asia, Diamond, Precious, and Lilly Pass, All of Chanute, Kansas; his fiancee, Faith Phipps and their two children, Ariyen and Aidyn and a daughter on the way; 5 grandchildren; 4 nephews; 3 nieces; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his cousins, Bryan Hagelund, Joey Skinner, and Kendall Jay Barrett.  He was widowed by his wife, Myrd Jean Pass.

Graveside service and visitation will be held at Elk Falls Cemetery in Elk Falls, Kansas on Saturday, March 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.  Please stop by the Historical Site of Prudence Crandall right outside the cemetery in remembrance of A.J.  Funeral services are entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
