John William Dobbins, age 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away August 18, 2020 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa.  He was born on June 1, 1946 in Richmond, California, the son of Harry and Evelyn (Cleveland) Dobbins.

John graduated from Moline High School in 1964.  He began serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was united in marriage to Karen Inman on August 13, 1967 in Moline, Kansas. 

John retired from the Navy in 1966 after 21 years of service and began working as an information technology contractor.  He enjoyed woodworking and crafting lathed wooden pens.  He was a Ham radio operation with call sign KOHUR.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Dobbins of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his sons, John Michael Dobbins and Eric (Melissa) Dobbins, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters-in-law and their families.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
