Wake-up!

A County Sheriff in Florida calls out the rioters, "If we can't handle you, I'll exercise the power and authority as the sheriff, and I'll make special deputies of every lawful gun owner in this county and I'll deputize them for this one purpose to stand in the gap between lawlessness and civility,"

Here is the short news story; https://www.zerohedge.com/political/florida-sheriff-deputize-gun-owners-if-cops-cant-handle-protesters

Not a bad idea at first glance. Several County Sheriffs in Virginia introduced this approach to back off their State's threat to confiscate weapons last year.

Two questions come to mind.

What if this is a County ploy to learn who has weapons, and how many they have? This could be used against the gun owner.

Do gun owners, legal or otherwise, need to be deputized to stand in the gap between lawlessness and civility? Is it not our Right as members of the so-called 'unorganized militia' to fill that gap without being deputized? Without the Sheriff's or the County's or the Governor's or the President's permission?
The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government.

The greatest mistake in American history was letting government educate our children.
- Harry Browne, 1996/2000 Libertarian Party Presidential candidate
