Darrel E. Schultz, age 68, of Paola, Kansas, passed away quietly on January 1, 2020 at Advent Health Hospital, Shawnee Mission, Kansas.  He was born November 21, 1951 in Canton, Ohio, the son of John and Bonnie (Hutchison) Schultz.

Darrel grew up in and around Zanesville, Ohio and the surrounding communities.  He was married and divorced several times.  He became the father to Craig Schultz, Adam Schultz, and Darrel Schultz, Jr.  He spent most of his life as a roofing contractor in Ohio, Texas, Missouri, and Kansas.  He ran heavy equipment and owned and operated an auto repair shop in Elk Falls, Kansas, and he also loved to raise a few cattle.

Darrel and Sandra (Debrick) Jones met in Elk Falls, Kansas and were married in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on December 6, 1991.  Through this union, he gained two more sons, Chris Jones and Lester Jones.  In 2011, he and Sandy moved outside of Paola, Kansas to be close to her family.  Darrel always loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, raising cattle, playing with his dogs, and trying to tame the cats.

Darrel is survived by his wife, Sandy; sons, Craig (Heather), Adam, and Darrel Jr. of Ohio, Chris (Denna) of LaCygne, Kansas, and Lester (Molly) of Paola, Kansas; grandchildren, Dalton, MacKenzie, and Nathan of Ohio, Tanna and Chylar of LaCygne, Kansas, and Max and Urijah of Paola, Kansas; sisters, Jean Parker, Cheryl Howell, Diana Mayle, and Michelle Schultz of Ohio and Joyce Goodwin of Washington; brothers, Bob Schultz of Florida and Charles Lewis of Ohio; and many other family members, both in Kansas and Ohio.  Those preceding him in death were his parents; his sister, Karen Webb, and two grandchildren, Grace and Chase. 

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34868 Block Road, Paola, Kansas followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. also at the church.  Memorials have been established for the Block Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion #0149 in Howard, Kansas, and American Legion in Paola, Kansas.  Contributions can be sent to Dengal & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl Street, Paola, Kanas 66071 which is in charge of arrangements.
