Florence Maurine Weaver, 95, of Independence, Kansas, passed away December 13, 2019 at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas.  She was born January 10, 1924 in Elk Falls, Kansas to Daniel Garfield and Florence Lucy (Bennit) Jones.

Florence attended and graduated from the Elk Falls Kansas Schools.  Following her education, she married Kenneth D. Weaver in November 1949.  The couple made their home on a farm in Elk Falls until they moved to Independence, Kansas in 1960.  Maurine was employed by Mercy Hospital for 25 years until her retirement.  She was a 59-year-member of the First United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, needlework, and embroidery.  She will be remembered as a hard-working and very independent woman.

Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Kenneth Weaver of Independence, Kansas, Martin (Cindi) Weaver of Independence, Kansas, and Larry (Loida) Weaver of Olympia, Washington; and three grandchildren, Sarah (Bill)Shanks of Nixa, Missouri, Stacy (Andrew) Tyrrell of Lake Tapps, Washington, and Tara and fiance Patrick Zacharias of St. George, Grenada. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; an infant daughter, Sharon Weaver; and one brother, Rowland Jones. 

Services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church Gault Hall Chapel, 200 S. Pennsylvania, Independence, Kansas, with burial to follow in the Elk Falls Cemetery in Elk Falls, Kansas.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. at Webb & Rodrick Chapel with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made to Labette Health Foundation and may be mailed to Labette Health, 1902 South U.S. Highway 59, Parsons, Kansas 67357 or may be left with the chapel.  To leave a special message for the family, please visit www.webbrodrickfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematorym 306 W.
