Robert Thomas Horsman of Frontenac, Kansas passed away August 21, 2018.  He was born on May 14, 1930 in Randolph County, Arkansas to Homer and Mildred Horsman, the third of five children.

Robert attended Sloan Hendrix High School in Imboden, Arkansas and Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas.  He was united in marriage to Veneta Lucile Smith on July 30, 1955 in Kingman, Kansas.  He worked as a chemist for Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, owned his own sawmill, was a truck driver, and owned a moving and storage business in West Memphis, Arkansas.  Most of his adult life, he and his family lived in southeast Kansas.

Robert worked hard all his life helping to provide for his family when he was young and then later for his own six children.  He enjoyed fishing and his pets.  He and his wife were members of the Church of Christ in Columbus, Kansas where he was an elder and taught a Bible class.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lucile; six children, Susan (Larry) Nossaman, Kay (Mike) Shelton, Mike (Rita) Horsman, Terry (Rhonda) Horsman, Lynda Fairleigh, and Bonnie Bennett; a sister, Marie Matthews; and a brother, Donald Horsman.  He was also a loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who survive him.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Barbara Archer; his brother, Homer Ray Horsman; and  a son-in-law, Mike Fairleigh.

A memorial service was held on September 1, 2018.  Memorials may be sent to Carpenter Place, 1501 N. Meridian Avenue, Wichita, Kansas 67203, a Christian children's home.

The Horsman family lived in Howard, Kansas for several years, and the children attended the Howard schools.  Robert Horsman's wife, Lucile, is the daughter of the late Bernard and Lyda Smith.
