Peggy L. Hinkle, age 74, of Oxford, Kansas, passed away February 27, 2018 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born on July 26, 1943, the daughter of Clarence and Francis (Huffard) Merchant in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Peggy was united in marriage with Hal Hinkle on April 21, 1962.  She worked as a cook at the Twilight Manor and the Friendship Center in Howard, Kansas.  She liked to play cards, dominoes, and watch "The Young and the Restless".  Skip-Bo was the family game, and she also liked Elvis Presley.

Survivors include her mother, Ruth Merchant of Wichita, Kansas; her companion, Russell Starlin of Oxford, Kansas; her sons, Gregg Hinkle and wife, Vickie and Steve Hinkle and wife, Kelly, both of Howard, Kansas; daughter, Cindy Gregory and husband, Clint of Oxford, Kansas; brothers, Larry Merchant and wife, Rochella of  Goddard, Kasnas and Ken Merchant of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Linda Jones of Angleton, Texas and Elaine Linthichum and husband, Mike of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.  Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Hal Hinkle; her son, James Hinkle; her granddaughter, Trisha Nungesser; and her brothers, Richard Merchant and Clarence Junior Merchant.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Oxford First Baptist Church in Oxford, Kansas.  Burial will be in the Lions Cemetery in Fall River, Kansas.  A memorial has been established with the Oxford Friendship Center.  Contributions can be left with the Oxford Funeral Home, P.O. Box 123, Oxford, Kasnas 67119 which is in charge of arrangements.
