Doris D. Boone of Cedar Vale, Kansas, passed away November 4, 2017 at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 87.  She was born to parents, Rollin and Christine (Lee) Boss on September 11, 1930 in Climax, Kansas.

Doris graduated from Climax High School in 1948 where she was a proud member of the varsity basketball squad, often scoring 25-30 points a game.  After graduating, she married Keith William Boone on March 3, 1949 and made her early life as a homemaker.  She worked several jobs in the Cedar Vale, Kansas area before her 31 years of service at Myers Family Center.  Doris was preceded in death by her husband, on April 13, 1967.

Doris had an active house with four daughters and enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and tending to her flowers.  She was very active in the Kemp Barnes American Legion Auxiliary where she was the long-standing secretary/treasurer and was proud of all her "girls" that attended Girls State.  She was also an avid KU basketball fan.

Doris is survived by her four daughters, Patti and husband, Tom Noah of Rushvile, Indiana, Vicki Boone of Wichita, Kansas, Toni and husband, Grant Downing of Moline, Kansas, and Lorri and husband, Dinger Rogers of Cedar Vale, Kansas; one sister, Mary Ann "Nan" Hayner of Omak, Washington; two sisters-in-law, Norma Boss of El Dorado, Kansas and Faith Butler of Eureka, Kansas; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Brett, and Brad Noah, Shelby Downing, Bo Downing, Kylee Downing-Jones, and Boone Downing, and Audrey Rogers; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and her bonus kids, Ray, Rena, and Jan Boone.  She is also survived by many friends and family members in Cedar Vale.  Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Keith W. Boone; her parents, Rollin and Christine Boss; and her brothers, Jim Boss and Bill Boss.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale, Kansas with Pastor Steven Bearden and Lowell Harp officiating.  Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas.  Memorials have been suggested to the Veterans Memorial Park in Cedar Vale, Kansas.  Those remembrances may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361 which is in charge of arrangements.
