Richard Joseph Hopper, 74, of Oxford, Kansas, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 in Winfield, Kansas surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on January 22, 1943 in Winfield, Kansas, the son of Joe and Helen (Miller) Hopper.

Richard was a 1961 graduate of Grenola High School in Grenola, Kansas.  He worked in the oil field his whole life.  He enjoyed tinkering and fixing small engines as well as camping and fishing.

Richard is survived by his children, Richard Allen Hopper and wife, Tiffany of Columbia, South Carolina, Richard Lynn Hopper and wife, Karen of Rock, Kansas, and Melissa Ann Hopper of Oxford, Kansas; brother, David Hopper and wife, Doretta of Winfield, Kansas; grandchildren, Cassandra Chhoeun and husband, Paul, Doretta Breen and husband, Timothy, Valerie Eastman and husband, Tony, Brian Hopper and wife, Emily, Autumn Hopper, Crystal Hopper, Forrest Huckabey and wife, Lakin, and Amanda Creamer; and 21 great-grandchildren.    He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Barbara Hopper; and his brother, Carlton Hopper.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Kansas.  No visitation is scheduled.  Memorials have been established with the Kindred Hospice.  Contributions may be left with the Oxford Funeral Home, P.O.
