Growing up in Moline, Kansas, she attended schools there and graduated from Moline High School in 1956.  She later received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Emporia State University, first teaching third grade for a number of years at Moline and then teaching in Cherryvale, Kansas.  Upon received her Master's Degree in Library Science from Emporia State University,. she served as a Librarian for the Wichita Public Schools in Wichita, Kansas for 15 years.

After retirement, Jean returned to Moline where she pursued her many hobbies.  She was an avid reader and an accomplished wood carver and had a deep interest in Native American history and culture.  Early on, she created an "Indian Room" as she called it, in her home and collected many pieces of Native American art and artifacts.  Once she even spent time with the Osage, living in a tepee and learning about tribal ways.

As a girl, Jean loved horses and participated in barrel racing with other neighborhood kids.  She also helped her father, a cattleman, gather cattle and make long drives to summer pasture.  Throughout her life, Jean was an active member of the Moline United Methodist Church and served as historian for the United Methodist Women.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Lee "Bill" Womacks; and most recently, her sister, Sue Adamson.  Jean will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, and many cousins.  Happy Trails, Jean.....................until we meet again.
