Departure of Charles W. T. Means

Charles Wesley Thorn Means was born in Allegheny City, Pennsylvania on December 6, 1836, and died in Moline, Kansas on March 21, 1896.  He came to Moline, Kansas in 1884.  He was married in early life to Miss Susan Filkill who died in 1877.

He leaves three children and one sister to mourn his loss.  His daughter, Miss Eva B. Hunter, resides at Paris, Illinois.  Miss Cora E. Durbin, another daughter, lives at Galesburg, Illinois. His son, Henry P. Means, resides at Comer, Illinois. His sister,  Mrs. Rebecca Smith, is from Flora, Illinois.  To many of his friends, he expressed himself as being ready to die and only waiting for the Master to come to take him to his Heavenly home.  A very large congregation gathered at the M. E. church on Sunday afternoon to pay a last tribute to the memory of one that all who knew him loved.  The services were conducted by Rev. W. C. Goodwin, assisted by Elder Hill.
