Ervin Ray Ball, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, January 6, 2016 at his home.  Born February 27, 1940 in Gramby, Missouri, he was the son of Ora Earl and Harriet Josetta "Hattie" (Stockton) Ball.

Ray was raised and received his education in Arkansas City, Kansas, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1958.  In 1965, he was united in marriage to Sandra Marie Wells at the Presbyterian Church in Arkansas City, Kansas.  The couple made their home in Arkansas City where Ray worked for Rodeo Meat Packing and later Santa Fe Railroad.  In 1968, the family moved to Auburn, Washington where he worked for Safeway.  In 1978, they returned to Kansas, and he began working for Binney & Smith and remained there until retiring in 1997.  After retiring, he worked for the City of Winfield until December 2014.  He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and working on Brian's projects.

His family includes his wife, Sandy (Wells) Ball of Winfield, Kansas; his daughter, Sheila Krug and husband, Jamie of Winfield, Kansas; his son, Brian Ball and wife, Sher of Udall, Kansas; his brother, Ora Lee Ball of Arkansas City, Kansas; his sisters, Jessie Sidener of Orting, Washington and Wanda Baker of Arkansas City, Kansas; his 10 grandchildren; and his 20 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Rhonda Andes, Terri McBeth, and Tracy Morris; his sisters, Lorene Barclay, Bertha Olsen, Juanita Gibson, and Irene Richardson; his brothers, Ivan Ball and Walter Ball; and his granddaughter, Kaylee Applewhite.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th Avenue, Winfield, Kansas 67156.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, January 10, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The family will greet visitors from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. that afternoon.  Memorials have been established in Ray's name for the Cowley County Humane Society and Eagle's Nest.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.  Miles Funeral Service of Winfield, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.

Sandra (Wells) Ball, wife of Ray Ball, graduated from Howard High School.  Her parents were Cleland and Geneva Wells.
