Phyllis Marie Carson, age 80, passed away November 15, 2015 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan, Kansas.  She was born July 5, 1935 to Clyde Henry and Bessie Iris (Lunsford) Ratlief in Isabel, Kansas.

Phyllis grew up in Isabel, Kansas and graduated from Isabel High School.  On February 18, 1955, she married Bobby Glenn Carson in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.  They made their home in Great Bend, Kansas for many years before moving to several different places. 

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband on February 15, 2006.  She then moved to Elgin, Kansas in 2002 where she made her home for the last 13 years.  She worked as a Certified Med Aide and also worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart before she retired.  She was a member of the Chautauqua Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, fishing, sewing, camping, cooking, gardening, and especially loved her animals and also spending time with her family.

Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Christine McNown and husband, Carl of Moline, Kansas; two sons, Bobby Carson and wife, Susan and Clifford Carson, both of Elgin, Kansas; two brothers, Frank Ratlief of Katy, Texas and Hank Ratlief of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild, and her parents.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dickens Family Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas.  The family has suggested memorials to the Memory Care Neighborhood Unit at Pleasant Valley Manor, and those remembrances may be left with the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
