Doris M. Ecton, age 86, of Fall River, Kansas, passed away October 25, 2015 at the Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, Kansas.  Doris was born August 15, 1929 in rural Severy, Kansas, the daughter of William Franklin and Julia Faye (Bush) Cornett.

On February 6, 1949, Doris was united in marriage to Billy D. Ecton Sr. at the Presbyterian Church parsonage in Fredonia, Kansas.  Doris was a teacher, a bookkeeper at the Fall River State Bank, the owner and operator of the Fall River Cafe, but first and foremost, she was a wife, mother, and homemaker.

Doris is survived by her son, Billy Ecton Jr. and wife, Susie Buffalow of Fall River, Kansas; daughters, Carolyn Shinkle and husband, Carl of Smithville, Arkansas and Dianna Teffeteller and husband, Bill of Claremore, Oklahoma; brothers, Charles Cornett and Calvin Cornett, both of Klamath Falls, Oregon; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy Ecton Sr.; her daughter, Patsy Neblock; her brothers, Clarence and Warren Cornett; and her sisters, Thelma Hanes and Dorothy Morton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fall River Methodist Church with interment to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas.  The family suggests memorials to the Eureka Nursing Center or the Fall River Methodist Church and may be mailed to the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736 is in charge of arrangements, and online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
