Marila Christine Hart, 92, of Grenola, Kansas, went to Heaven on November 22, 2014.  She was born on August 2, 1922 on the family farm in rural Cedar Vale, Kansas to Henry and Pauline (Holyrod) Johnson.

Marila attended the Centennial School and graduated from Cedar Vale High School.  She attended Pittsburg Teachers College before teaching at Plum Creek, Spring Branch, and Hardy School, which were all one-room  schoolhouses.  While teaching at Hardy, Oklahoma, she met Zeb Hart.  They were married April 20, 1947 at the Johnson family farm.

Marila and Zeb made their first home on the N.T. Olsen Ranch at Hardy before moving to the Hart Family Ranch near Grenola, Kansas around 1948.  In their later years, they lied part-time in Cedar Vale.  They moved back to the ranch to reside with their daughter and son-in-law in 2008.

Marila was a lifetime member of the Cedar Vale First Baptist Church and also attended Belknap Community Church.  She loved teaching Sunday School and helping the children.  She was also a 4-H leader for the Cedar Vale Go-Getters, and she also belonged to the Friendship Club.  She enjoyed reciting readings and Bible verses.  Her favorite hobby was making homemade cards.  She loved spending time with family.

Marila is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lessie and Dwight Thompson; her grandchildren, Cristine and husband, Shawn Noland, Curtis Thompson and Peggy Lawrence, and Amy and husband, Kelly Jarboe; her great-grandchildren, Quentin, Lindsay, and Trey, Kord and Karl, and Mandy, Erica, and Garrett; one brother, Mark Johnson of rural Cedar Vale, Kansas; one sister, Anna Laura Price of Edmond, Oklahoma; and 8 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Glorine McGregor.

Cremation has been effected, and memorial services will be held at the Cedar Vale Baptist Church in Cedar Vale, Kansas on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:000 a.m.  Memorials are to the Cedar Vale Baptist Church or to the Belknap Community Church.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
