Christine Hinkle, 88, of Parsons, Kansas, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Labette Health.  She was born November 25, 1925 in Longton, Kansas to Edward W. and Della M. (Wiltfong) Hinkle.

The family moved to Oak Valley, Kansas in 1930, and Christine attended schools in Elk County.  In 1945, she went to Parsons, Kansas and was employed at the S.H. Kress Store until 1951.  She worked for the H.D. Lee Company in Cherryvale, Kansas from 1951 tgo 1969.  In 1969, she began employment with the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center and continued there until retiring in 1987.  For many years, she operated Kris' Greenhouse at her home.  After retirement, she worked parttime for Service Master doing cleaning for commercial businesses.

Chrstine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parsons, the Amoma Class, and attended the weekly Bible Study at the church.  She was an independent person and was able to take care of herself until the end of life.  She dearly loved dogs.

Several cousins survive her:  Gary Mowery of McKinney, Texas, Phil Wiltfong of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dennis Wiltfong of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Lonnie Mowery and Norma J. Graves, both of Independence, Kansas.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons, Kansas with Rev. Dave Davis and Rev. Joe Hyde officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church.  They may be left with or mailed to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, Kansas 67357.  Condolences may be left online at www.wallfuneralservices.com.
