This is so cool.

Congratulations to former mayor Margaret Gragg on her 100th birthday. The following is a cut and paste from Rudy Taylor's feature story in today's Prairie Star.

She was mayor of Howard for eight years after she retired from teaching.

"If one of the many corrupt...county-seat contests must be taken by way of illustration, the choice of Howard County, Kansas, is ideal." Dr. Everett Dick, The Sod-House Frontier, 1854-1890.
"One of the most expensive county-seat wars in terms of time and money lost..." Dr. Homer E Socolofsky, KSU

Margaret was my 2nd grade teacher at Howard Grade School along with many, many other children in the area.  She is a special lady!  She and the late Hazel Moore (former 1st grade teacher) both reached the 100 year mark, and I believe they both graduated from Piedmont High School along with Helen Hinkle who will celebrate her 100th birthday in April.  They are all fine examples of strength and "good living".
