Francis Elizabeth "Liz" Gritz, a resident of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born on October 30, 1938 in West Plains, Missouri, the daughter of Edward Everett and Jenny Irene (Woods) Billups.

Liz worked in the food service industry for many years, and she retired as the Food Supervisor from the Butler County Correctional Facility.  She made quilts and enjoyed crocheting, making things like dolls, hats, and house slippers.  She loved playing Bingo, cards, and board games with friends, family, and her children.  She was mechanically inclined and once rebuilt a carburetor with her son, Roger, on the kitchen table.

Liz is survived by her sons, Roger Gritz of El Dorado, Kansas, Jerry Gritz of Topeka, Kansas, and Rick Gritz of El Dorado, Kansas; her daughters, Sherry Smith of Sedalia, Missouri and Brenda Collins of Troy, Missouri; her brother, Jim Billups of Viola, Kansas; her sister, Cleola "Cle" Ankerholtz of Augusta, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas with Pastor Robin Haines officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Elk Falls Cemetery in Elk Falls, Kansas.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
