Vergil Ray Harbers, age 60, of Fall River, Kansas, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at his residence surrounded by family.  Vergil was born January 8, 1953 in Yoakum, Texas, the son of Victor and Marie (Noack) Harbers.

Vergil attended school in Yoakum, Texas and graduated high school there.  He served in the United State Air Force as a Sergeant until 1975.  He then married Dana Kay Smith on September 27, 1975 in Elko, Nevada.  To this union, they had three children.  Vergil and Dana were married 37 years.

The family moved to Fall River, Kansas in 1985, and Vergil worked as a machinist with Valent Aerospace.  He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Dana, of the home; children, Alan Harbers of Fredonia, Kansas, Victor Harbers (Chelsea) of Fredonia, Kansas, and Yonne Woodson (D.J.) of Melvern, Kansas; his mother, Marie Harbers of Yoakum, Texas; siblings, Rose Braun (Walter) of Shiner, Texas, Verlene Mikulenka (Jimmie) of Yoakum, Texas, and Debbie Turk (David) of Shiner, Texas;  and 9 grandchildren.  Vergil was preceded in death by his father, Victor Harbers of Yoakum, Texas.

Cremation has been requested, and the family will hold a private service at a later date.  The family has suggested memorials to the Breanna Harbers (granddaughter) educational fund and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
