HOWARD-- Richard L. Montgomery, 62, longtime local resident, died Saturday in the Twilight Manor Nursing Home here.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Spurrier Funeral Home with Rev. Roy L. Brown of the Methodist Church presiding.  Burial will be in Grace Lawn cemetery with military graveside services.  Memorials are asked for the American Cancer Society and can be left at both Howard banks.

Richard L. Montgomery was born in Jireh, Wyo. Dec. 23, 1913, the son of Frank and Beulah (Hutton) Montgomery. He came to Howard as a child and had lived here most of his life.  On Jan. 9, 1944 at Howard, he was married to Helen Hutton, who survives at the home.

He was a veteran of World War II, USA, a member of Sunflower grange, the Grenola VFW, Methodist Church and Howard American Legion.

Surviving other than the wife are:  the mother, Beulah, who is in Twilight manor; two sons, Gary of Austin, Tex. and Dale of Howard; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Stewart, Coffeyville, Mrs. Mary Goldwater, Wichita and Mrs. Lois Morgan, Winfield.  Ten grandchildren also survive.
