Before you attend the next as yet unannounced Kommunity Konversation to be put on soon by Elk Konnected, LLC & Public Squares, Inc., do some research....

Here:  http://issuu.com/bnim/docs/planning_for_the_flint_hills
Hint:  Look for flag words like sustainability & diversity

And here: http://www.bnim.com/work/flint-hills-regional-plan

And here:  http://www.bnim.com/

At the upcoming, tightly managed (facilitated) Kommunity Konversation, you will probably be told there are no predetermined outcomes, but be aware that there are already big plans.  Plans that have been in the works for some time.  You will be carefully manipulated into supporting the Flint Hills Regional Plan.  BNIM, the KC based architecture/planning Company behind this is huge & Elk Konnected/Public Squares have opted in.  Big federal taxpayer money behind this thing (in the form of already awarded HUD grants), and BNIM designs more than just nice office buildings.  Most likely, EK will be part of getting skeptics to go along with this top down, central plan for the future of the Flint Hills, including Elk County.  As the plan itself says:

The planning process often reveals a network of community leaders ready to promote good ideas. A series of leadership workshops will provide these natural leaders with the information they need to promote the goals of the Plan and bring more skeptical citizens into the fold. These leaders will be implementing the Plan long after the planning team has finished their work.

I believe Elk Konnected & Public Squares are already busy identifying local 'natural leaders' whose job it is to 'promote the goals of the Plan and bring more skeptical citizens into the fold.'  Into the fold?  That statement in itself should bother every free thinking liberty loving citizen.

This appears to be more cleverly disguised top down, central planning.  History reveals 'Central Planning' is a mainstay of the old USSR & of Red China to this day.  Could there be those who think this is the way America should go?  What about the rugged individualism and local community individuality that are at the core of American values?  Who the heck do these 'leaders & planners' think they are?  This fits nicely with the 'sustainable communities' agenda that has already infected many cities across the country.  Is it now time for the rural folks to join the ranks of those whose sustainability is planned from far away places?

Just askin.  Forewarned is forearmed.  It's your home, your land, your future... and your money

Conservative to the Core!
Gun control means never having to fire twice.
Social engineering, left OR right usually ends in a train wreck.

One other thought from The Plan:

The  act  of  planning  is  a  communal  agreement  to  work toward a better future.

Communal?  I gave up communes in the 60s.

More From The Plan...

threats
The Kansas Fish and Wildlife Service has identified many existing threats to the already vulnerable Tallgrass Prairie. These threats  include  habitat  fragmentation  through fencing and development, the profligacy of invasive species, the negative profitability of the agricultural sector, the lack of incentives to implement sustainable ranching techniques and the destruction of native  species  currently  facing  extinction. Additionally, as the wider public has realized the beauty of the area, the relatively new threat of development pressure  needs  to  be  better  understood.  Because  of topography and the inability to use trees as screening, the prairie  landscape  is  especially  vulnerable  to  unplanned  development. One inappropriate development or a single poorly  sited  new  home  can  damage  views  for  miles  and  disrupt the contiguous ecosystem.
(Emphasis added)

Sounds like a lot of smooth talk calling for grandiose zoning plans, no?  We know Commissioner Hendricks has called for Zoning in Elk County in the past.  Now, as president of Public Squares, Inc., an Elk Konnected leader and their recently discovered involvement with BNIM & The Flint Hills Regional Plan, is this just a back door, top down means to that end for our esteemed commissioner & her supporters?

Sure makes you wonder, doesn't it?  Especially now with that westside red light district visible from one end of the county to another.  Talk about "One inappropriate development" that can "damage  views  for  miles".

I guess what's good for the goose isn't necessarily good for the gander.

Patriot told you to keep an eye out for the words sustainable and diversity. Then he went on later about Red China. Then he used communal? and related it to communes in the 60's. This is a good example of how words can be twisted. Patriot if you could provide a hyperlink to the small sections of the plan you quote that would be more in keeping with proper quoting of copyrighted material.

That being said, I think everyone should read what Patriot has to say on this issue. It is important. Just remember to check what he says, what I say, or anyone else for that matter.

The entire 50+ page document being cited (including all the distracting, but emotionally supportive photos) is available in its entirety at the first link I cited in the original post.  It's also good to remember that wordsmiths are great at masking the historical use of highly charged, politically (or culturally) oriented words.  Like 'the collective' when being used in government sponsored programs... says what it means and means what it says.  While the Fabian overtones are clear, an uninformed populace might well misinterpret.  Heaven knows the Soviet masses sure did.

Patriot, just post the link to the 50 pages and tell people which page you are posting on when you post from page 28. Not too much to ask on each post. It helps people follow along and is something you learned when you were in High School . Remember how hard it was to write a paper and put your footnotes down at the bottom of the page. It sure is simple now that we have computers.
