Somewhere on this forum is a board asking if anyone knows where the Cracker Box School was.  Well, here is the answer from my friend, the postal carrier from Severy, Marcia Moore.

"Hi Janet -
I was looking at the Elk County Forum and saw where some were wondering where the Cracker Box School was.   It was located across the road and a little north from Paul and Lucille Pitts' place.  The correct name for this school was Pleasant Hill School Dist. #149.  Hope this helps.  -- Marcia "

Now, the location of this school that is not there anymore is to go to the west side of Howard, go straight north on Cherry St. which turns into Road 15.  Take this road for about 3 miles maybe less, and it would have been on the east side of the road.  On the west side there sits a house that Vergie Criger Hunter used to live in and a trailer house.  That is the Paul and Lucille Pitt's place which is south of a watershed lake.  This school would be a little bit north of the Pitt's and on the east side.  Maybe when the weather is better and the roads aren't made out of quick mud a person could drive along there and see if there is still a foundation.

Now, why was it called Cracker Box?  Was that a name or a description?
