Cecil Ray Boone, age 87, owner of Derby Plaza Movie Theater in Derby, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012.  Cecil was born November 24, 1924 in Pea Ridge, Arkansas to Raymond and Elizabeth Boone. 

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Velma (Estep) Boone of Derby, Kansas; daughter, Janet (Jerry) Fager of Derby, Kansas, Carolyn (Bob) Eckhardt of Topeka, Kansas, Myrna (Russ) Allen, and Lori (Russ) Armstrong; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August, 2, 2012 with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, Kansas.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012 at Pleasantview Baptist Church, 1335 N. Buckner, Derby, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38148-0142.

Cecil Boone grew up in Moline, Kansas.  He is the brother-in-law of Juanita Miller of Moline.
