     Linda Sue (Benest) Vancil, the widow of Gary Leon Vancil, passed away in Wichita last night.  Linda was a daughter of Merle Marion & Dorine (Coon) Benest and a 1964 graduate of Severy High School.  Among Linda's survivors are her two sons - Steve and Kelly Vancil.
    Gary and Linda took over the management of Severy Auto Salvage in 1983 from Gary's parents, Howard & Coletta.   After Gary passed away on May 31, 1999, Linda, Steve and Kelly continued to operate the business.  In August 2004, Steve and Kelly took over the business, Steve running the auto repair part of the business and Kelly the auto body and salvage portion.  
    The Koup Funeral Home of Eureka, KS gave the following information on their facebook page:
    Funeral services for Linda Sue Vancil will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 3, at the Severy United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas, and left in care of the funeral home.

Okay, here is the obituary from the Nov. 9, 2011 edition of the Eureka Herald:
     Linda Sue Vancil of Severy died on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 at Clare Bridge of Wichita, at the age of 64.  She was born Nov. 21, 1946 in Eureka, the daughter of Merle and Dorine (Coon) Benest.  She was raised in Severy and attended local schools, graduating from Severy High School with the class of 1964.  On June 26, 1965, Linda was united in marriage to Gary Leon Vancil in Severy.  They made their home in Severy and later at Fall River Lake.  To this union two sons were born.  Gary preceded her in death on May 31, 1999.
     Linda was a member of the Cosmos Club, the United Methodist Women, a part owner of Severy Auto Salvage, a beautician, and a member of the Severy United Methodist Church.
     Linda is survived by two sons, Steven Leon Vancil and wife, Tami, of Severy and Kelly Dwayne Vancil of Severy; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin and Jade Vancil and Gaige, Summer and LeeLoo Vancil; her mother, Dorine Benest of Severy; and four sisters, Beverly Hickey of Wichita, Margie Perkins of Overland Park, Sheryl Harris of Andover and Debbie DeLong of Valley Center.  She was preceded in death by her father, husband, and daughter-in-law, Teresa Vancil.
     Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at the Severy United Methodist Church with Pastor Charles Cryderman and Pastor Dave Warren of the Severy Nazarene Church officiating.  Interment followed at South Lawn Cemetery.
     In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Hospice Care of Kansas.  Contributions can be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
