Rose Altha Keene was born at Saybrook, Illinios on June 21, 1863 and passed away at her home in Howard, Kansas, on Tuesday, February 15, 1932 at 12:30 a.m., following an illness extending over the past 18 months.

She with her parents, Thomas and Many Ann Keene, came to Elk County in 1880, settling on a farm 14 miles northwest of Howard, Kansas.

She was united in marriage on June 17, 1885 to F. H. Perkins and to this union were born five children as follows: Harry K. Perkins, Mrs. Ruby Gaines, Ralph Perkins, Mrs. Opal Thompson, all of Howard, and Wilke R. Perkins, who passed away in 1902 at the age of 13 years.

She was a faithful and devoted member for 30 years of the Howard Presbyterian church and will be greatly missed by her co-workers of the organization.  He Christian life was one of quiet and modest attainments and was adorned with a spirit of humility and grace, true marks of the follower of the Master.  She was closely affiliated with all the organizations of the church and gave to those of her time and strength as her health would permit.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of the Carter-Rader Post and as such was legitimately proud of her son Ralph's service during the World War, being also a daughter of a Civil War veteran and granddaughter of two Revolutionary War veterans.

She was a faithful wife, devoted mother and kindly neighbor.

Mrs. Perkins leaves to mourn her departure her husband, four children and ten grandchildren.

The funeral services were held at the Howard Presbyterian church, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. A. R. Griggs, the address being given by Dr. G. W. Horn of Humboldt, a former pastor of this church, for five years. The music was beautifully rendered by the Presbyterian choir.  Interment in Grace Lawn cemetery.
