Flora E. (Noakes) Boles
    Funeral services are pending for Flora E. (Noakes) Boles, formerly of Fall River, who passed away early this morning in the nursing home at Fredonia.  She was in her nineties.
    Flora married Harry Dean Boles at Emporia, KS on Sept. 17, 1939.  To this union two children were born - Darryl Dean Boles (who passed away Nov. 22, 2008) and Marjorie Colleen Boles (the wife of Francis Robert) who lives in Fredonia.  
    Flora and Dean spent their entire married life living in Elk County's Liberty Township, near Fall River.  Dean passed away May 20, 1993.

Flora Elizabeth (Noakes) Boles age 92, of Fredonia, Kansas, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Golden Living Center of Fredonia.  Flora was born February 11, 1918, the daughter of John W. and Nellie (Aunbaugh) Noakes.

Flora was born and raised around the Fall River, Kansas area.  After graduating from Madison High School in Madison, Kansas, she married Dean Boles on September 17, 1939.  They continued to farm and live in rural Fall River.  Flora worked several years as a secretary in the insurance and tax business in Fredonia.  Flora and Dean were married for 54 years until his death in May 1993.

Flora was a member of and very active in the Fall River United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed quilting and crocheting.  Flora loved to mow her yard and then feed and watch the hummingbirds.  She was also known for her pies.  Most of all, she enjoyed her family and friends.

Flora is survived by her daughter, Colleen Robert of Fredonia, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean; her son, Darryl Boles; her sister, Helen Shope; one grandson; one great-great-grandson; and a niece.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fall River United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlotte Coats officiating.  Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery south of Fall River.  Visitation will be held Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas.  Memorials have been suggested to the Fall River United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, Fredonia, Kansas  66736.
