Grace Marie (Forbes) Harris, age 97, of Howard, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Twilight Manor in Howard.  Grace was born on September 14, 1912 in Osage County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Grover Edgar and Ocie Florence (Cole) Forbes.

Grace attended Woodland School in Osage County until March of 1924 when her parents moved to a farm north of Fairfax, Oklahoma.  She completed her schooling in Fairfax.  On April 2, 1945, she married David Lee Harris at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Grace and David moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where David worked manufacturing planes until March of 1960. They then moved to Fall River, Kansas and worked on the ranch owned by Ewing Halsell of Texas.  Grace and David were married for 24 years until his death on January 14, 1970.  After David passed away, Grace moved to the Longton, Kansas area until she moved to the nursing center in Howard, Kansas.

Grace is survived by her nephew, Stanley Forbes and wife, Dana of Wynona, Oklahoma; her niece, Darlene Moles and husband, Jim and daughter, Lisa of Wynona, Oklahoma; her cousin, Norma Lee Rice and husband, Harold; and her special friend, Phyllis M. Fouch of Wichita, Kansas.  Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; and her brother, William Ralph Forbes.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Fall River, Kansas with Pastor Robin Haines officiating.  Visitation will be held Friday, August 27, 2010, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Memorials are suggested to the Longton Senior Center and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services are entrusted to Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
