William J. "Bill" Unruh, 88, of Howard, Kansas,  passed away April 22, 2014. He had worked over 30 years at Potwin Land and Cattle Company.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home; children, Howard (Debbie) of Howard, Kansas,  Bob (Denise) of El Dorado, Kansas,  Julene "Jo" Schroeder (Jim) of Whitewater, Kansas, Linda Stewart of Severy, Kansas, Joyce Burdick (John) of Whiting, Kansas, and Lola Coats (Vince) of Potwin; a sister, Vera Schmidt of Potwin, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold; grandson, Adam Schroeder; and siblings, Vernon Unruh, Irma Koehn and Ruby Koehn.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2014, and funeral service will be held at  2:00 p.m.  on Monday, April 28, 2014, both at Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater, Kansas.  Interment will be in the Holderman Cemetery in Potwinm Kansas.  A memorial fund has been established for the El Dorado Animal Shelter in care of Lamb Funeral Home, 120 S Main, Whitewater, KS, 67154.

Thoughts and Prays to the Family. She was a very nice woman and neighbor to my family. She will be greatly missed.

Vestas is a Danish company and our headquarters is based out of Denmark. Swedish?? have no idea where you got that from...

Not all of these components came from Colorado, some of the tower sections came from Vietnam.

Just to let all the community know... So far we have 7 Wind Turbines producing up on the Hill !!

Way to screw up Brownback!  I cant believe he would expand the off limits area farther south....

The link provided is from Acciona North America. It is a slide show talking about what was posted above. When I was in college about wind energy we discussed these topics. The noise is compared to somebody standing next to you talking. These developing companies use a software to determine the distances the turbines need to be away from a residence to minimize the sound and the shadow flicker as well.

Shadow flicker occurrence is easily calculated
Shadow flicker occurs when the blades of a turbine pass in front of the sun to create a recurring shadow on an
object. Computer models in wind development software can determine the days and times during the year that
specific buildings in close proximity to turbines may experience shadow flicker. Mitigation measures can be taken
based on this knowledge and may include setbacks or vegetative buffers. Issues with shadow flicker are less
common in the United States than in Europe due to the lower latitudes and the higher sun angles in the United
States.
Shadow flicker is not harmful to persons with epilepsy
The allegation is sometimes made that shadow flicker from wind turbines can cause epileptic seizures. This is not
true—shadow flicker from wind turbines occurs much more slowly than the light "strobing" associated with
seizures. The strobe rates generally necessary to cause seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy are 5 to

I would also like to say yes shadow flicker is quite annoying but a good developing company wouldn't allow this to happen on someone's residence.
