Do any old timers  know about the brick streets of Howard...where the brick came from, was there a brick plant anywhere in Howard? We know there was one SW of Moline on the hill (now the property is owned by Paul and Fay Duranleau. Would like to know the date they were laid as those streets have held up so nicely. Hee, hee I found the reply button. How fun does it get?

Dale is sitting in the frontroom munching on popcorn gazing out the window at the beautiful full moon. He says he sees a WWll soldier in his hat. I walked out on the porch and looked at the same beautiful moon and I see a mother holding up her baby. What do you see?
On the news they reported we will get to enjoy two full moons this month. Happy gazing!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well...Myrna, yes it sure is enjoyable to sit back and look at nature and all its beauty and peace.

The loss, due to fire, of the Moline Christian Church is a heartbreak for Pastor Stan and his congregation and to all of us thoughout Elk County. Their congregation is a generous hard working group. Our prayers go with them for courage and strength to make decisions and plans for their needs. God be with them.

Thank you all so much. This is an honor we are truly humbled to receive. Elk County is a great place to live and we are very proud to be a part of it. We have and will continue to do our best to conserve the good land God created. Thanks again for your well wishes. Dale and Barbara

Frog passed away several years ago, maybe before Peanut, your brother did. We were all good friends and ran around together. Frog lived in San Antonio and Boyd McGlasson looked him up while down there and found out this information.

Dales memories of Decoursey:
Dale delivered milk there from the time he was in high school until they stopped handling canned milk (10gal. size containers) in 1962. He says money made from that paid for his fun on Sat. nights. When he stopped milking cows he had aquired a lot of old cream cans. He took these and cut off the bottom portion to make water troughs for his starting hog operation. He remembers buying Longhorn cheese there for around 5 or6 dollars a horn.

Michael David "Mike" Holmquist, age 63, of Osage Beach, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at his home in Osage Beach.  Mike was born March 3, 1948 in Clarksville, Tennessee, the son of Charles A. and Charlotte M. (Porter) Holmquist.

Mike attended elementary and high school in Moline, Kansas, graduating from Moline High School in 1966. He graduated from Independence Community College in 1968.

In 1970, he joined Diane K. Trimmell in marriage and relocated to El Dorado, Kansas where he worked for Halliburton Oil Services. In 1974, he joined Trimmell LP Gas Co., which he later purchased and renamed Mike's LP Gas Co. After selling Mike's LP Gas Co. in the early 1980's, Mike worked for Cobalt Boats before relocating to the Lake of the Ozarks. At the Lake of the Ozarks, Mike was a Marine Tech for Glencove Marina and Village Marina.  Mike grew up vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks with his parents and continued the tradition with his children. After working for Cobalt Boats, Mike and Diane relocated to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2000 to fulfill their dream of "living on the water".  Mike was an avid boater and enjoyed every season at the lake.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Diane, of the home; daughter, Angela Passantino and husband, Jim, and granddaughter Lauren of Lenexa, Kansas; son, Tyson Holmquist and wife, Jamie, of Shawnee, Kansas; mother, Charlotte Holmquist of Wichita, Kansas; sister Marilyn Gray of Wichita, Kansas; and several other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest contributions to: Lake Regional Development Fund, Lake Ozark Clinic. Memorial Fund for Mike Holmquist, ATTN: Terry Hall; 54 Hospital Dr, Osage Beach, MO, 65065.

Private services will be held at a later date.  Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.hedgesscottfuneralhomes.com.  Arrangements have been placed under the care of Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Camdenton, Osage Beach, Missouri.
