Sometimes it is better to keep your eyes and mind open and your mouth shut.

And sometimes it is better to follow your own advice.

Politics / BUSH'S SPEECH
October 17, 2008, 01:56:22 PM
You can't snopes this because it is a satire, much like Saturday Night Live (you know that's not fact, right?).  This satire reflects how I feel, and it makes me sad because if the polls aren't biased, apparently the majority of people are stupid.

I still think character is important in a leader, rich people are already in a higher tax bracket than poor people and still supply jobs, we all have the same opportunities, some just get lucky and some not, and we all should be accountable for our actions.

There are 100 Senators, 435 congressmen, and 9 Supreme Court Justices that we have elected and have appointed to run this country in a fair & honorable manner with the president as the leader.  If that has not been done, then they have not done the job they were entrusted to do and to blame it on one person is not being accountable for their own actions.  If they disagree so strongly with what the leader has done, then they should have stood their ground.

This is why character matters.  Being a good debater, eloquent speaker and promising the world does not give you character.  Experience, compassion, conviction and conscience does.  If you know someone that is undecided in this election, maybe you should explain why you put your trust in a person with character.

Now the Satire:

BUSH'S RESIGNATION SPEECH

The following 'speech' was written recently by an ordinary Maine-iac [a resident of the People's Republic of Maine ]. While satirical in nature, all satire must have a basis in fact to be effective.

This is an excellent piece by a person who does not write for a living. The speech George W. Bush might give:

Normally, I start these things out by saying 'My Fellow Americans.' Not doing it this time.
If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore.

I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you:

There's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.
The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people.
I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world.
Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours.

And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media.

Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security. We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this 'blood for oil' thing. If I were trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq 's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied...People Died' crap either. If I were the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.

Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office.

Some guy named ' Clinton ' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you? Now some of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we should attack Pakistan , a nuclear ally. And then he wants to go to Iran and make peace with a terrorist who says he's going to destroy us. While he's doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into citizens, so they can vote to re-elect him. He also thinks it's okay for Iran to have nuclear weapons, and we should stop our foreign aid to Israel . Did you sleep through high school? You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to out spend and out-tech them.

That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die.

That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can.

But they are.. They want to kill you, and the bastards are all over the globe. You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor.'

Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy.

Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well Fed Ex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing. In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times, USA Today, or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter.

Most of you would rather watch American Idol or Dancing with Stars.I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.

I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from.

But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads. So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient for years. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again.

Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it.

Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.

So that's it.

God bless what's left of America .

Some of you know what I mean.

The rest of you, kiss off.

PS - You might want to start learning Farsi, and buy a Koran.

I think that John McCain had a senior moment last night when he said that he would make care of children with autism a priority, and that Sarah Palin understood the importance of that. (Sarah Palins' baby in fact has Downs' Syndrome, a chromasome disorder). He went on to say that he would make money available for autism. I think he could not remember Downs' Syndrome and said Autism instead. Two times! Fellow prisoners, I think we may have a problem if John McCain is elected.
I think he said exactly what he intended, if I was supporting a candidate that has changed his stories as much as Obama has or one that has been caught in as many lies as Obama has, I wouldn't have even brought this up.
Do you think Obama had a memory lapse when he was talking about the item listed beloW??????????

Go to Fox News for this story:
Obama and ACORN: Relationship May Be More Extensive Than Candidate Says
WASHINGTON: Barack Obama says he only had limited ties to ACORN, and they began in 1995. But other encounters with the group, plus a voter-registration drive he conducted called Project Vote three years earlier, calls his account into question.

This type of activity is really disappointing, this is something I would look for in a third world country. This election is definitely bringing out the worst in people. How can we have an individual as the frontrunner that has a past as dark and sinister as Barack Obama, it is scary.

Obama Campaign Makes Some Revisions to Its Candidate's Resume
Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Truth Hurts

Barack Obama's Fight the Smears Web site had to make some adjustments when one of the alleged "smears" turned out to be true.

The political blog Gateway Pundit reports that Thursday the Web site read, "Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity."

But the Cleveland Leader newspaper discovered documents proving that Obama did work as a trainer for the voter registration group. The Obama camp claims its candidate trained for the position but was never hired.

The Web page now reads, "Fact: ACORN never hired Obama as a trainer, organizer, or any type of employee."

Quiet as a Mouse?

Speaking of ACORN, it apparently tried to register Mickey Mouse to vote in Florida. The Saint Petersburg Times reports Orange County elections officials rejected the bogus application.

But The Times reports the application was stamped with ACORN's logo. Republican National Committee Chief Counsel Sean Cairncross describes ACORN as a "quasicriminal organization" and says, "This is part of a widespread and systematic effort... to undermine the election process."

Paper Trail

Barack Obama reportedly authorized money for education programs with extreme anti-American views during his time in charge of Chicago's Annenberg Challenge — the organization co-founded by '60s domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.

National Review columnist Stanley Kurtz writes that in 1996 the Coalition for Improved Education in Chicago's South Shore received a $200,000 grant from Annenberg. That group was part of the South Shore African Village Collaborative which Kurtz calls thoroughly "Afrocentric" and held what he called "a carbon-copy of Jeremiah Wright's worldview."

Kurtz says the group's curriculum was centered around the rites of passage movement — a form of black nationalism. One sympathetic study conducted by Nsenga Warfield-Coppock in 1992 and published in the "Journal of Negro Education" says the movement came about because American socialization is "genocidal to the African-American community," and that African-Americans need to "counter the potentially detrimental effects of a Eurocentrically oriented society."

Ballot Brawl

Democratic and Republican poll workers clashed at an Ohio nursing home Monday when one accused the other of ballot tampering. The Akron Beacon Journal reports the scuffle broke out at the Gardens of Western Reserve facility in Summit County.

Seventy-three-year-old Democrat Edith Walker allegedly jumped on the back of 75-year-old Republican George Manos and began hitting him in the head with her fists. Manos says two other election workers had to pull walker off his back.

The volunteers were assisting a resident who reportedly wanted to vote for John McCain but her ballot was initially marked for Senator Obama. Walker — the Democrat — says Manos grabbed the ballot from her hand, accused her of marking it incorrectly and that "he was very mean to me." Manos says Walker refused to show him the ballot, then marked it a second time.

The incident is being investigated by the police department and the Summit County Elections Board.

It seems to me as though most things have increased far more than 5.9%; many things at the grocery store have increased 100 fold and sometimes more. Insurance rates have increased dramatically. 5.9% is almost double that of last year though.
Name one thing that has gone up 100 Fold.

Politics / Is working for a living bad????
October 13, 2008, 07:37:52 AM
You make it sound like someone working for a living is bad, that is the problems with this country now, to many people want a handout instead of working. FDR said he wanted to give people a HANDUP, a job, not a handout.

Frank, I did not know that this was a political thread. For damn sure I will never be wealthy in a republican administration. The American people are being sucked dry, and all people like you can do is put everyone down that might, just might make it a little better. I would be willing to bet that you have never washed and line dried your bedsheets, but have spent your life in the pursuit of the almighty dollar. Enough, and I am sorry that this lovely thread got contaminated by this garbage.

Jody, they bought Winn's Grocery in 1940. I saw that in an earlier post.
