The Coffee Shop / Re: Wood Bees
June 16, 2010, 03:40:44 PM
Yeah, I have wood bees in my carport, too.  My car is covered by yellow stuff and sawdust!  Chuck says they don't bore into treated lumber.  I've had a "little" luck spraying with Tempo, but have to do it more often than the label says.  I like that stuff b/c you can use a pump sprayer and stand back and get a pretty far shot without being covered.  Plus, it works for most all other bugs (ants, scorpions, spiders, flies) and is safe for pets after it dries.  Supposed to have a residual effect.

The Coffee Shop / Hello from the Norris family!
June 11, 2010, 01:34:23 PM
Just wanted to stop by and say HELLO to all my Elk County friends!  Everything has been going well for our family since moving to the Salina/Brookville/Ellsworth area.  Josey is growing like a weed and crawling all over the place!  No teeth yet, but I'm hoping it will be any day now!  Chuck really enjoys his new job on this ranch.  He enjoys the laid-back atmosphere and being able to spend more time at home.  He has also got orders for 3 (maybe 4) saddles, so he plans to keep busy in the evenings and weekends for a while.  Work is going well for me, although I did end up hiring a local teen to be our part-time babysitter for the summer so I can get more done during the day.
Although we love our new location and get to see Grandma and JoePa and my sister's family quite often, we still miss our Elk County friends and activities!!!
We wish you all a wonderful summer!

Just wanted to wish all our Forum Friends a Happy Valentines day (a little late)!
Things are going well for us.  Chuck is really enjoying his job (stress-free), and I went back to work after an extended maternity leave on Jan 4.  I requested to eliminate travel from my job description and had to take a pay cut, but at least I'm staying at home with Josey!  Some days I feel like all I do is feed her and put her to sleep, but it makes the time I spend in the office 200% efficient!
Josey is learning to roll over now, and I fear will be a quick study to crawl soon!  Here is a picture I took of her the other day... she's sucking on her fingers and hands... all of them at the same time!  Yes, it does look like she has a little mohawk!  Ha!  Her hair is really thick and long in the middle and short and thin on the sides!
We miss everyone!

Just cold and windy here in the Central KS area.  I think all the snow is East of us (for now).  We had ice in the night yesterday, but got warm enough to melt it off yesterday.  Good thing, as with all this wind, it would have taken trees and lines down for sure!  My parents in NW KS got about 5" of snow yesterday, and is cold and sunny today.  We don't have our TV hooked up yet and the internet isn't much help, so not sure what is forecast for the rest of the week and weekend.  We'd like to head to my parents at least "sometime" over Christmas!  Stay warm, Elk County, and stay safe!

Thanks, Rudy!  I will miss Elk county, too (already do)!  I haven't been very good about taking picures these past couple of weeks, but here's one I took today!

Well, we are officially moved into our new home!  Still have paths around boxes, but slowly unpacking!  Since I last posted, its been a flurry of activity and travel.  Chuck's mom came and spent a week with us over Thanksgiving.  We took her to the airport on Friday night, and Sunday at noon Chuck's dad arrived!  They left Tuesday to head to Salina for hunting, and my mom came later that day to help us pack.  It was some power-packing, and we finished on Friday and loaded up to head to NW KS so Chuck could hunt.  Chuck got his deer on Saturday and because of the storm, decided to head back to Howard.  I stayed with my parents that week (and my mom and I did some power internet shopping since we were snowed in).  The movers came on Thursday to load up.  My parents, Josey, and I headed to Salina to meet Chuck that day, and the movers unloaded on Friday.  We had a few days in the house to get stuff unpacked, and then I headed to Manhattan the next Wednesday to help get ready for my brother's wedding.  We got him married on Friday night, and I headed home Saturday night.  We were planning on going to my parents for Christmas either Wednesday or Thursday, but it looks like the weather will keep us home.  All my gifts were shipped to my mom's house, so we'll just have to enjoy our Josey gift on Christmas morning!

Our new address is:
306  27th Road
Brookville, KS  67425

Merry Christmas!

Congratulations, Peggy!  She had at least a couple of pictures that made it into the finals and they all were great!

Chuck's mom is here from Florida and we're combining some of their traditional dishes with some of my traditional dishes.  Honey ham, blackeye peas, party potatoes, banana pudding, cranberries.  We'll spend the day eating and packing!  I hope everyone has a wonderful, thankful day!

Rudy, don't stop to worry about how to stop the train, or it will run you over!  Just keep running full steam forward and enjoying all the pie and coffee you can handle, and don't look back!
