Title: In Plain Language
Post by: frawin on September 29, 2009, 06:00:41 PM
 IN PLAIN
LANGUAGE

One fence, two sides.
If a conservative doesn't like guns, they don't buy one.  If a liberal doesn't like guns, then no one should have one.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, they don't eat meat.  If a liberal is, they want to ban all meat products for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.  A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is gay, they quietly enjoy their life.  If a liberal is gay, they loudly demand legislated respect.

If a black man or Hispanic is conservative, they see themselves as independently successful. Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.  Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.   A liberal wants any mention of God or religion silenced.

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.  A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his.

I would say because its true.
Personally the conservative extreme he listed is not extreme. It is live and let live.

Best example is this health care push.  Its the liberals not the conservatives that want everyone to fund everyone elses healthcare.

Let see, by that logic if everyone pays everyone else's, that means I pay yours and you pay mine so we both come out even. ;D So it wouldn't matter that I'm a moderate and you are a conservative, we both pay and we  both have coverage.

Nope. It would only work if each party used the same amount of healtcare services.

Not the response of a "Moderate", Liberals  always seem to hate being called Liberals, Conservatives always seem to be proud to be called a Conservative. I guess if I believed like Liberals I would hate to be called a Liberal to.

Varmit, nothing in particular. I was going to try to make a comparison between health care costs between smokers and non smokers but I'm too lazy to do it.
Frank, if  was a liberal I would be a registered Democrat and would be able to vote in the primaries. I'm registered Independent. That was a rather terse thing to say to me and I'm very disappointed. What was that all about?  I hadn't even been talking to you. Oh, I finally figured out the Queen Nancy crack  Not cute.  I thought you were my friend. Once again I guess I was wrong. Very sad.

Just out of curiousity would that non-smoking group include elderly, overweight, and possibly diabetic folks?  Would the comparison include people with insurance as compared to those without?  Or were you talking about overall costs in general?

What is a registered democrat?  ROTFL is it anything like registering a handgun??

YOu would have to include, those who don't exercise, those who eat beef, those who eat pork, those who eat pizzas and icecream and those folks who walk across the street, or down a backalleyy in NYC.

Heck life is deadly so you really can't compare anything.

Call us whatever you want, most of you have already.  As long as I get called to the supper table I'll be reasonably happy.

Frank--the Queen Nancy JOKE was a very funny one that was apparently LOST on its intendend mark. How sad. I was accused of crying on one of the other threads when all I was doing was being sarcastic. My accuser is crying on this one about how sad it is that she thought you were her friend but she guesses she was wrong...

Pot calling the kettle Obama again... :o

My god, now who's acting childish?  Are you seriously going with the finger pointing "now you are the bad guy" approach?

Not being childish...Stating obvious facts! Why should I let ya'll walk all over me?

I am not a Democrat so why would I have made a connection?  As I have said MANY times I do not care for Nancy Pelosi and re- writing my history does not make it so. Ks ,you have sarcasm down to an art that I  cannot possibly compete with so I won't even try. That is an award I really don't need...it's all yours.
Varmit, I was talking health care costs in general, but there are too many variables to even bother with. It really isn't important in the scheme of things.

Steve, I was re reading some old posts and I don't know why "registered" voter is so funny. Don't you have voter registration out there? Wasn't I speaking English? I have a  Delaware voter registration card that lists me as INDEPENDENT. I don't get the humor, what's so funny?

How do the poll watchers know you aren't voting multiple times or are qualified to vote at all. (You might be too young! ;D)

Cause you show them an id and your on a list.  You know you register to vote.   But i have never heard of registering as a dem or independent or rep or whatever.  That is none of anyones business.  IF i want to vote for x dem and y rep i'll vote for x dem and y republican.  Its my option and my choice.

What is your point.  The registration is a totally separate issue from the vote.  You still have to register to vote.

If you didn't choose a party than you don't vote in the primary.

You still vote in the general elections.  Have you reregistered since you moved?

I'm told some states let everyone vote in the primaries. Delaware doesn't. You have to show your voter registration card so you are shown to the voting booth that has your candidates ballets in it. The poll watchers could care less, they just direct traffic to the right booths. Steve, if you voted in the primaries, how did you know which ballet to go for?

Here in Kansas, you have to declare party affiliation when voting in a primary election. That is, they verify your registration and you can only vote for the candidates in your declared party. You can declare at the poll.

Back on the subject - the preacher read this one in church and everybody liked it.
It wasn't during his sermon.  As he was reading it, I remembered that Frank had posted this on the Forum.
Good one for sure.

I think it interesting how people think they are experts in how "the other guy" thinks. That would be like me making the statement that only liberals eat steak. Or only conservatives are rude. I've been accused of bring rude, there for I must really be a conservative. Ha!
