I didn't know whether to put this little message here or in politics, knowing how some of you feel, so if I'm wrong somebody can move it. Joe Biden came back to Delaware last evening. Several nights ago, a Georgetown ( downstate, rural) town officer was shot and killed. It's a small town that has been completely torn up emotionally ever since. They had a huge candle light vigil for Officer Chad Spicer last night and Joe came. It meant a lot to the people there, all politics aside. Chad was killed one year to the day that he was hired to come back to work in his home town.
I read the reports - it sounds like it was an excellent service, very moving, and an excellent gesture by Joe Biden.
I remember how torn up everyone in the area was when the Greenwood County Sheriff Matt Samuels was killed several years ago.
Thanks for sharing, Diane. It should always be an honor for the vice president to visit your community, especially when local people are still hurting from the recent murder of a town officer.
What a sad, sad tragedy, hired to protect and lost his life in doing so. I read that in the paper.
It is sadness, for sure, but comforting to have him honored in this way.
