Rep. Alan Grayson asks the Federal Reserve Inspector General about the trillions of dollars lent or spent by the Federal Reserve and where it went, and the trillions of off balance sheet obligations. Inspector General Elizabeth Coleman responds that the IG does not know and is not tracking where this money is.If you thought the government had a handle on the economic crisis, this should rapidly dispel that erroneous feeling. Watch and shed a tear. Unbelievable!!! >:(
She could have saved alot of time by replying with a simple, "No, we have no idea what the hell we are doing."
I know.. Amazing isn't it? Disgust and Contempt doesn't even begin to describe what I feel.
Meanwhile, there'll be no changes and the Federal Reserve will continue on its merry way....
By the way, Ron Paul talks a lot sense about the FR but nobody seems to care about any of it either.
What??? Huh???? What did she say?? or yet, what didn't she say. ??? I liked the part where the guy two rows back was telling the lady behind her things and then she was whispering it to the Inspector General while she is stumbling around for an answer. You are right!!! This is downright scary.

Ditto...I was very disappointed.
Now I might be from the old school of just fess up and say what everyone already knows.....but hear me out.
Wouldn't you feel better..( and we all like that warm and fuzzy delusional feeling :) ) if they said.." You know? We have made a ton of grave mistakes here. I am sorry, but I can not answer your question. I don't think it is going to get any better. We are all very confused and will do our best to try to figure it out. "
I would really like to hear..........." We don't know what we are doing, so we are stepping down so someone who does know..can straighten out this mess before we are all begging for scraps of bread in the streets. "
( this should be under the "wishes that won't come true "thread.. LOL)

Wait a minute Diane, whatever happened to ..."trust them to know what they're doing"?
I just thought I'd mention this. The big headline in our daily paper today reads "Dignified transfer at Dover honors 5 slain servicemen." These were the military people who were allegedly killed by Sgt. John Russell in Baghdad. It just doesn't get any worse than that....killed by our own soldier. Pfc. Michael Yates, who lived in Federalsburg MD. grew up downstate in Seaford DE. and his little son Kamren still lives there with his mother. My point is this....Pres. Obama changed things so that military families that want to come meet the plane and escort the body home can, at no cost. That's one of the things that he has done that I do like. Yes, it's taxpayer money. I can't think of a better way to spend it.
him allowing families that courtesy is brought flat when the s.o.b. makes comments like the one he made at the ASU graduation ceremony,
"We've become accustomed to the title of 'military superpower,' forgetting the qualities that got us there -- not just the power of our weapons, but the ... valor and code of conduct of the men and women in uniform."

I don't understand what's wrong with that comment. He praised the the men and women in uniform. How can that be wrong?
because the comment implies that he is questioning the valor and honor of our servicemembers
Once again, I fail to read into the president's comment the same thing you do. Sorry.
Billy, I don't know what you are talking about. Please, reword the President's statements to say what you think it should have said, so I can understand. I don't see how he is questioning anybody's valor and honor. Or do you hate him so much that you put a mean sarcastic slant on everything he says. Have you lost your objectivity completely?
A relentless focus on the outward markers of success can lead to complacency. In recent years in many ways, we've become enamored with our own past success, lulled into complacency by the glitter of our own achievements. We've become accustomed to the title of "military superpower," forgetting the qualities that got us there, not just the power of our weapons, but the discipline and valor and the code of conduct of our men and women in uniform.-obama
he is saying that our soldiers have forgotten their morals and values. When you look at everything he has said about the military espcailly since the "torture" thing it is obivous that he believes our military is full of thugs and bullies. he has basically handcuffed them when it comes to dealing with threats to our country. Our troops could face punishment for even insulting a prisoner. he refuses to release the memos containing the information that we gathered from our "torture" of terrorists.
Diane, I don't slant anything he says. I am just not blind to what he is doing. Listen to the audio of his speech at ASU.
Or better yet, read the transcript. Rush did a great job in breaking down obamas speech...

No,No,No!!! He is saying that "people" have forgotten the qualities that made this country a military super power, that it is the valor of the men and women, not just the weapons that make it so. It was a compliment, not a criticism!!!!! He did not say that our military have forgotten their code of conduct, etc. Good grief, Billy. If you got that from Rush, no wonder. He's an expert in making roses into skunk cabbage. Please think for yourself.
Billy, the President was making a commencement address. You and I were not the audience, the graduating class was. Those speeches are always about positive forward motion, moving on, making a contribution,"up with people" etc. He would not have mixed the subject of torture or criticisms of our military into it.
Did you read the transcript?
No, I didn't have time just then, went by what you said. Speaking of which, you quoted me as saying "trust them to know what they are doing." I don't recall saying that. I might have, but I don't remember it. Are you sure it was me?
I am pretty sure it was you, I will try and find the thread and post just to make sure.
Diane, I owe you an apology. I quoted you as saying "trust them to know what they are doing". I went back and reviewed your posts since I joined the forum and could not find it. I remember someone saying that and thought it was you, it was not. for that I am sorry. I will be more careful in the future.
No problem, that's minor. It just didn't sound like a phrase I would use.
