Since it is National Poetry Month I thought I would write a poem. Unfortunately, I have not had an inspiration that has sparked an idea or motivated me to write. Maybe Pam, Catwoman, Sarge or someone else has something they want to share. I will leave you with one of my favorite poems from someone else that inspired me to write poems and songs. I hope you enjoy and I bet some of you even know where it comes from. David
Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsetter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy's spent
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young
Cold-hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colors from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
But we decide which is right
And which is an illusion
Ah, a nice one. Sounds like Cat's work.
It is not one of Catwoman's poems. Catwoman's great poems did inspire me to take a shot on writing after a 10 year layoff though.

Diane, you honor me with the comparison...But that poem is from the incomparible Moody Blues (bowing from the waist, murmuring, "I am not worthy...I am not worthy...."), although the name of the song that it is contained within escapes me at the moment. David, some help here?? By the way...If my poor efforts were some sort of Muse to you, then I'm glad...You are very talented at the craft.
Ah yes, the incomparable Moody Blues. Now I know why the words seemed vaguely familiar.
Here's silly kids poem I wrote for some 3rd graders after we had been talking about rodents.
Mice!
Varmints on the dresser.
Varmints on the floor.
Varmints 'neath the bed.
Varmints by the door.
Varmints, they are everywhere,
plain as I can see.
Please, my pretty kitty,
come catch them all for me. No, this has 'naught to do with our varmit.
Glad you cleared that up, Diane.
Grandmother....How did this happen?
How did what happen little one?
How did it get so dark? So full of pain and so empty of hope.....
So sad..........
I've been trying to figure that out my child......
It seems people LIKE the dark..........
Glimmers of light appear......
To show them the way..........
They TURN away and wander.... sometimes RUN back to the dark........
I see the glimmers Grandmother........
I try to follow them...........
Sometimes they get brighter....sometimes they fade away in bitter darkness.....
How can the light win Grandmother?.........or CAN it win...........
Yes child.....It can win.....
But it takes care and nurturing..............
Feeding.........
Love...kindness....compassion.....KNOWLEDGE........patience.......hope......perseverance......
All these things feed the Light.............
And it IS getting brighter......It WILL return.........It WILL endure..............
I am the Light.....You are the Light........We are ALL the Light.........

Pam, did you write that or did you find it somewhere? Sounds like an old Indian dialogue to me.
I wrote it Wilma, that was the effect i was going for. :)
;) Love it.
That was good, very good. May I have permission to save it? I promise not to take credit for it even though tempted. Give credit where credit is due.
Pam that is very good. Thanks for posting your poem.

Pam thank you for posting the poem. (Second time I said it). Sometimes I need a break from the political discussions, everyday tasks of life and I find it here in the poetry section.

Like it, Pam? I love it. It says all the things we need to do.
Wolf's Springtime Song
Lone, lean wolf sings his ancient song.
Others in the pack start to sing along.
Telling of better days over the hills.
Where the wolf pack will find many more kills.
It travels fast in the warm spring air.
Heard by a woman in far distant chair.
Woman sits typing on a blog.
Adding wolf''s song to the internet log.
She too sings the song of better days.
A lesson she learned from her Indian ways.
The song is accelerated to the speed of light.
Continuing its journey this warm spring night.
Man sits reading enjoying some rest.
Thinking these times are not at their best.
He writes the story of wolfs spring song.
He finds himself singing along.
The song travels further on into space.
Back up to God its original place.
