Title: What Does It Cost To Put Lipstick On A Pig?
Post by: sixdogsmom on October 23, 2008, 07:46:26 PM
Answer: I don't know, but it cost the RNC nearly $12,000.00 in the month of September for makeup and haircare for Sarah Palin. I don't know any hockey moms, baseball moms, volleyball moms, basketball moms, football moms, that could even begin to spend this amount on their hair and makeup. BESIDES!!! This campaign is partially funded with taxpayer dollars isn't it? Where is the outrage??

In an interesting video that has surfaced on Al-Jazeera, Libya's Moammar Gadhafi is shown giving a speech in which he describes Obama as someone with an "African and Islamic identity" running for president of the U.S. with Arab and Muslim backing. WorldNetDaily was the first national website to highlight these comments, which were monitored by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

"All the people in the Arab and Islamic world and in Africa applauded this man [Obama] . . . [and] may have even been involved in legitimate contribution campaigns" to his campaign, said Gadhafi. The Libyan dictator described Obama as "a black citizen of Kenyan African origins, a Muslim, who had studied in an Islamic school in Indonesia."

Claim No. 1: Obama's campaign is funded by the rich, big corporations and foreigners.

"Barack Obama was the only major presidential candidate this year to completely reject contributions from The Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs that have dominated our politics for years," the Obama site says of the persistent online criticisms of its fundraising.

"Instead, this campaign has been owned by the more than 3.1 million everyday Americans who have donated in small amounts."

Not so, according to campaign finance records. Nearly half of the $600 million raised by Obama to date has come from wealthy donors and special interests. Obama's allies months ago dropped their ad linking Republican rival "Exxon John" McCain to Big Oil after it came to light that Obama had taken far more money from Exxon-Mobil than McCain.

But since you mentioned pigs..here's an example of a woman living HIGH ON THE HOG...

That is unreal.  She spent as much on an afternoon snack as some of us spend for a whole month of feeding our families.  Of course, we are the working class and eat hamburger instead of lobster.  She obviously isn't the "someone" who is going to give up anything.

::) ::) ::) now, depends on what brand of lipstick you intend to use.  Now Maybelline is much cheaper than Max Factor and other brands of "designer" lipstick so I would guess it will cost somewhere between $3.98 and $15.00.

What did they retract?  Her signature on the check?  Are they saying that this is made up and her signature forged?  If this copy is correct, how can they retract the story?

Any politician usin that against Mrs. Obama is kinda like the pot callin the kettle black ain't it? Those guys screw off more money on one meal than some of us spend on groceries for a month. Republicans and Democrats alike. She isn't the ONLY one. Get real...y'all.
I can't afford to buy designer clothes like Mrs. Palin, she's spent more on this election wardrobe thing than I've spent on my entire family their entire lives!
NONE of them know what it's like down here with the rest of us! Why does anybody think they do?! Why does anybody think they even give a S**&? They want a JOB that pays BOOCOO bucks, just like the rest of us. The only difference is they are willin to do WHATEVER it takes to get it.
And no I'm not "just jealous" cause they are rich and I'm not. Rich people have NO sense of perspective, bigger price means better stuff to them, caviar costs 500 bucks a can, it's still just fish eggs.......

Let's just clear up a couple of points here.  Gov. Palin did NOT SPEND the money on her clothes.  The National Republican Committee did it.  I doubt if she even was in on the choices.  Furthermore, after the election, the clothes are to be donated to charity, so we are told.

ANOTHER POINT:  Gov. Palin is not a millionaire like the rest of the candidates are.

Still, it is reprehensible that such petty points are being brought up instead of the important issues we are facing.

Wilma, the article was forged; check, signature and all. And I do not remember anything said about the $150,00 for Governor Palins' clothing.

It is NOT reprehensible, it is an example of the excess of EVERY politician in the United States government! DEMOCRAT or REPUBLICAN period. I don't care WHO coughed up the money, it could have been spent better and I'm pretty sure anybody who is impressed by the fact that she's wearin prada shoes DOESN'T have the best interests of this country at the forefront of their operatin procedure! If she was such a friggin maverick she would have said NO thanks I've been dressin myself for awhile now.....It's NOT a petty point because the people who wasted money on this crap are the same ones who want control of the United States government for 4 more years, I'm sick of it ALL of it.
I am sick of all this crap about oh this one has our true interests at heart... this one is goin to destroy us blah BLAH blah.....

Pam, I am with you.  The sooner this election is over, the sooner we can try to start concentrating on the very real pressures that are being put on our American families...I've got students who are coming to school in shoes that are two sizes too small, due to their parents not being able to afford to budget in new ones for the kids.  Thank the good Lord there is the Food 4 Kids program, because I'm fairly sure that the one gallon bag of food stuffs that is sent home with some of those kids is probably the only source of food for that weekend.

When it comes to feeding people I answer to an authority even higher than our Constitution or free market economies. I may have something in common with socialists there. Proud of it too.

Thank you, David.  And I agree with everyone that says they are sick to death of it all.  I am ready for it to all be over with and I will have nightmares along with the rest of you, no matter who is elected.  Besides, my ballot has been marked and mailed back.

Right you are Wilma. ( Not towards you Pam) but the overall jealousy and threat that this woman brings to other women in the Democratic world is absolutely hilarious on one hand and it makes me totally sick to my stomach on the other hand... Women against women... so typical of the insecure female gender. Hate anyone prettier or smarter.. And so sad that she has to explain every little detail of every little thing ( and DOES with a smile) when NO ONE ELSE has to say squat about what they do. Such a crock of Horse S***.

Here she is..............once again.. being TRUTHFUL and explaining.................

John McCain also defended the purchases on "Meet The Press" Sunday morning. He said that a third of the clothing has been returned, and that the rest will be donated to charity.

I may be wrong on this;  it is just my observation. From what I have seen in the workplace a successful, pretty, smart woman has as much need to defend herself against attacks from her fellow "sisters" as she does from the good ole boys network.

It's Worse.. I would rather walk into a meeting room of 300 men who are complete strangers ..than have to deal with 20 women who are like vultures ..praying that you screw up..or talking smack behind your back about everything from your hair to your clothes to god only knows what.
I DO NOT talk about women . I appreciate all women for some type of quality that they have. I can have my opinion about them in areas..( and at times I have been around some that I would like to smack hard)  ;D
but I don't get into the vicious back stabbing that goes on. If I like them and admire them  I usually tell them. If I don't care for them or what they represent.. I am nice and respectful.. but I just keep my distance...and my mouth shut.. Not do all I can to trash them. You just show what an ass you are, if you do.
Guess I am secure in myself ( even with all my faults) to not have to trash another female to make myself feel better.

Women should stick together........ :)
