I was just thinking I haven't seen pepelect post for a few days and I always like to read his posts and Warph's posts among others. Then the idea of the Elkie Awards popped into my head. Maybe it is my warped sense of humor but I think it might be fun to have a break from our politics, arguments etc and have an Elkie Awards thread. Make up a category and who your nominees are and who should receive the award. I like the recent trend of humorous and inspiring posts. I am ready for the elections to be over.
David
I really like the idea and way to go, I think this'll be interesting !!! :o ;D
If this is popular I will do all the work so Teresa can do our important tasks. I really think it would be fun and we could recognize some of our favorite forum members topics etc.
David
I don't even know if this is ok with Teresa. Just an idea. Please Vote and add comments and suggestions. If I don't see votes and suggestions I will drop this.

Did anyone notice Heather's reply earlier in this thread? I had to look twice to be sure it was her post, it was so mature. I really do hope I get to see her name on the honor roll this year.
Detention is much more fun and you will learn just as much. Honor rolls are just bragging rights. I bet anything the c students make more money in ten years than the straight a's. "A" students don't know how to study.
DanCookson for getting the jokes the first time.
Worst thread: POLITICS(any of them)
need to add the "Least likely to post on" thread - my vote - POLITICS - sounds like it can make the worst enemies out of best friends!

Honor rolls may not be important, but the work habits learned while getting there are. "c" students might make more money but I will bet it is because of the work habits they learned while in school.
I heard something on TV this morning that is so true. This lady said "We are the teachers of our children".
I personally don't think the politics board should be something to stay away from. Yes, Frank and I lock horns on a regular basis, but if he came to my house today, he would get a hug when he entered and a cup of coffee so we could sit down and really have a great chat (but I can't stir his coffee with my finger cause he's diabetic and can't have that much sugar  . His wife and I went to school together so how could I not like him? Two people don't always have to agree, but they can agree to disagree without becoming mortal enemies for crying out loud. A person needs both sides of the picture to get a grasp on the issues BEFORE election day and this forum has certainly given both sides. (three sides sometimes :D). I am learning a lot, speaking a lot, and when I go to the polls, I may still not make the right choice, but I'll know why I am voting the way I am. I'm getting more good information on here than I do the TV, believe me. Any of you ever hear of a debating team when you were in high school? You may have been chosen to debate something that you entirely disagreed with, but it was the "debate" not the "beliefs" that made for a good discussion on 2 sides of an issue. That's how you learn, durn it, PERIOD, and now I gotta get busy. Elkie awards? Anyone open for a good debate? ::) OK, I'm outta here. . . . .O overshot my 2 cents - anyone got change for a 5
Well said Flo.

Pep I also have the Negative Elkie Awards in my mind. I was trying to use my Sunday going to meeting manners. If you sign a binding non-disclosure contract with a $2 million penalty clause I will send it to you. You would definitely be the one to handle that. I don't have the cajones.

You know, I agree with David...this should be a good-natured activity...but my ornery bone is just wiggling away...and I like the ideas that Patrict has posted...maybe, with a little work on the rough edges, we could have these:
Most Irritating
Least Likely to Succeed
Biggest 'Company Man/Woman'
Most Anal-Retentive
Most Neurotic (I've already won this one...leave it off the list!)
Hmmmmmmmmm...after careful consideration...I've probably won all of these. Never mind...
CATWOMAN, you should get the Poet award hands down. The very first one you posted is still my favorite.
Frank
Here, here.
I do appreciate your kind words...but to quote someone (whom I really can't remember) who said, "If nominated, I will not run...if elected, I will not serve"...was that LBJ? Anyway, I nominate either David, Pam or Teresa...all of whom have a fantastic grasp of the English language!
I nominate Catwoman for Number one, Numero Uno, ACE Poet
Signed: Frank Winn
I second that motion.
dna I can handle anything go ahead and throw the ball to me I will hit it.
How about the oldest/youngest member?
She's got my vote lol
Since I'm a registered Democrat I probably got the least likely to succeed wrapped up LOL!
But only if you don't drop out of the race!

Pep you understand if I send you my box of rocks and the list of glasses houses to throw them at you will have to take full responsibility that they are your rocks and choice of house? Also, after a financial verification that you have $2 million in assets, surety bond, Insurance policy payable to me if you give me up. All those being met I send you the list and feel free to throw your own rocks. My glass house is not off limits.
David
Actually this is more fun than the positve list and a formal voting process.
DNA, jprxmkt handles all the finances and I think that assets fall in to her miserly control. Fears I will spend drug money on heavy equipment.
I have filled out an insurance indemnification certificates and had my people get in contact with yours. I upped my umbrella coverage and added you as beneficiary.

Yes I think it is good she hides, I mean, handles the assets until the kids all get out of college. You have more important things to do than worry about money, Pep.

Diane, you are here every day on this forum and just as much a member of it, maybe more so, than I am. At least your posts are positive and I look forward to what you have to say.
That's very nice of you to say that, but I'm still just second tier as compared to those of you who live right there.
Actually, I had intended not to post at all in this thread. When I was in Junior High there was this horrible notebook going around with each page devoted to a classmate. The book was called an opinion book and people wrote things in it either good or bad about the person on each page. Of course the popular 'in crowd' got the good stuff and the unfortunate ugly ducklings got blasted because it was all anonymous, you see. One day, I went into the bathroom and there was one of the girls in my class who was the object of some of this negativity. She was in tears, holding that book. I helped her bury that thing in the bottom of the trash, and learned a lesson that day about bullying. It is easy to bully while remaining anonymous, and I was afraid that this thread might turn into that. :'( :'(
I have had a lot of experience with bullying in my lifetime, a lot of it due to the amount of time I've spent within educational institutions. I can tell you with complete assurance that those who were bullies as young children grow up to be bullies as adults...they just simply get smoother and trickier at their bullying...it's never as open and honest as it is with kids. I am impressed with your smooth way of handling that "book" that was being circulated in your high school. It shows a great amount of maturity and understanding on your part. As far as bullying on any of the threads associated with this site is concerned, I have not seen nor anticipate seeing any. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for those kids at school who are unlucky enough to be low man on the food chain...and I always find a way to make those kids come out on top of those who think they are in the 'cool' set. I am not 'against' cool kids...I'm just against anyone being made to feel less than what they are. And, yes, I have a way of really ticking off the popular kids...because, no matter how much brown-nosing the little buggers do, they never win with me. ;D
Good for you CW! I did not mean to imply that this thread is about bullying, or that bullying is anticipated; it just put me off a little bit at first. But I have come around and am ready to participate. ;)
After reading the thread on Biden resigning, I now would like to add a new category to this thread. I hearby nominate DNA as Most likely to see a UFO. ;D ;D
So, David, how about it? Seen any lately?  With you living in La-La Land, I would imagine you probably have seen your share of Unidentifiable Foreign Objects!
Come on my forum people Yes or No are we(us) going to do this or are we not I really think it would be a great idea if we have permission by our master's (Teresa,Kjell) to this I THINK it would be great for a laugh or to on a rainy day like these one's so either YES or NO!!!! ??? .......
None of you need "permission" to do anything in here.
The only things you would need permission for is the only thing you don't have access too which is the internal makings of the website..in which you wouldn't need permission, because you can't have permission so therefore you already know to not ask for permission.. cause you wouldn't know what to do with it if you DID get permission.. which you won't.. ;D hahahahaha ;D
Seriously...........
No one needs any permission to start any thread... This is YOUR forum.. (your home)
We just built it, maintain it and pay all the bills.. **What is suddenly wrong with THAT picture**
As far as starting a thread?? Well there has been 1016 hits on this thread ..so guess by reading it all, the thread is started..
If you want to start another thread.. by all means do it.. if you want to continue on with this one.. by all means do it. :)
okay, David, the floor is yours. Might I suggest this thread for "discussion" and "nominations" and another thread for "votes only". Otherwise "voted fors" might get lost in the shuffle.

Good idea Flo. I am on forum lurker mode for now. Sunday night I had surgery to fix complications from a previous broken elbow a couple of years ago. I have found that I am very right handed and posting beyond cutting and pasting an article is difficult. I am on read only mode for a while.
David
Oh Ouch! Hope you are much better real soon! :-* :-*
David, "Heal up soon greetings" from here in the east. I'm sure when Heather reads about your surgery she ( and we) will be willing to table our project as long as needed. Our chair needs a break.
Hey, David...
Here's a GET WELL SOON for you. Hope you've got someone there who can help you out a bit while you're healing!
Thanks all. Not a big deal. Just can't type.
David

Diane, isn't a break the reason our chair is in the shape he is in now?
Ok guys, when I have some time sometime soon lol I will try and get this thread up to " ELKIE AWARDS special " if their is anything that you guy's really want in the elkie awards send me a message or post it on here or something and I can organize my data and all that golly stuff :) see ya when I see yah again lol
David,
I hope you are able to use your arm soon. It isn't a lot of fun learning how to do things one handed or armed.
Too bad you didn't live closer to us you would have all kinds of nurses.........some good and some not so good.......
but, all meaning well.
God bless you
Judy
Oh, David, I do hope your "recoup" time is minimal and painless. A break ( :-\ no pun intended) on this subject will be good. Give the rest of us time to ponder our choices. For now, Elkie Awards is in "rest" mode while the leader is resting. ;D
Yes, I guess David needs a rest, not a break! One is enough.

Pep, I already have medical transcription software from my days doing IT for the county hospital. It has a hard time recognizing my midwestern accent. More typing to correct it than just typing. My cast comes off tomorrow and Doc says typing is a good physical therapy for the supporting muscles of the elbow.
David
Don't listen to them they are all quacks. Next they always tell you to loose weight and eight salads a day....Quackery......
So Dave I hope you feel better :)
So...did the cast come off? Are we typing yet? It's just not the same without your input!
Fiberglass cast off and removable cast on. Still getting used to typing. Not quite back to full run off at the mouth\type mode yet.
David
Welcome back,
Keep up the good work. You are missed!
God bless
Judy
