Reminds me of the tale of the young man, graduating from high school, who received a Bible from his father for his present. He was furious...he had wanted a car, instead...he never even opened the Good Book, leaving immediately instead to go into the military. In the intervening years, his father passed away. When the young man came back for the funeral, he was feeling very low as he entered his family's home. He went into his old room and found that Bible laying there, right where he had left it when he stormed out of the house to join the Military. He felt like he needed some help...some guidance...so he opened the Bible...and found, in-between the pages, the pink slip to a new car that his father had kept hidden from him. He had never known that his father had a new car for him...his father had let him join the Military without one word of comment or complaint.
Hopefully, we evolve enough in our relationship with our parents that we come to know them eventually as people and friends, rather than just parental figure-heads.

More information about this video...
The University of Iowa music machine. This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa. Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft Iowa, yes farm equipment!
It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort.
It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian.
How marvelous! :D
I wanted to send it to some friends, with a more detailed explanation, so searched the 'net for more info.

Big sigh! I thought it was a plausible, neat idea.
Good lord.. I didn't even check it out. I just assumed it was built and for real. I saw that the video was animated.. but I can do that with a true to form real video so I thought nothing of that part.
Oh well.. it was still neat anyway... :)

I love both of these but particularly identify with the second one. My grandmother grew up riding a horse to get to school...the boys would race horse and wagon teams like kids today race cars. A really great Christmas was when you received an orange...they weren't available during the rest of the year. My great-grandmother on the other side of my family had huge meat crocks that she put up her meat in when butchering. I can remember having: TVs that you had to turn the knob on and then had to adjust the rabbit ears in order to bring them into focus...Having only three channels on the TV...Only having AM radio...Having only regular grocery stores, where you had to go to the hardware store to pick up anything that wasn't food...The pre-plastic time, where mice could eat through just about anything that you stored your stuff in (unless you had it in a very thick wooden box and even then mice could somehow gnaw their way in)...the days when oleo was the only thing you could get besides butter (and trust me...the margarine that you get today is far better than that oleo crud)...the days when you were reminded about not bringing shame onto your family name and that you were supposed to be a good example to those around you. I guess I'm getting old, huh.

Hudson River Plane Landing (US Airways 1549) Animation with Audio
US Airways flight 1549 made an emergency crash-landing into the Hudson River on Thursday, January 15, 2009. All 155 people on board were brought to safety. The miraculous landing took place after the plane struck at least one bird upon takeoff from New York's LaGuardia Airport.
Watch the video to see for yourself what really happened: the take-off, flight-path and - crucially - the landing and rescue of passengers.
The event has been accurately reconstructed by Scene Systems Inc., 3D Legal Animators based in California, USA. Scene Systems turns complex scene data and expert testimony into powerful 3D animation that helps legal professionals prove their case in court.
The animation was produced at very short notice, immediately after the real-life event. This included data sourcing, analysis, modeling, animation, rendering and post-production. This was made possible due to our unique forensic animation engine capable of extremely efficient, high-quality animation production.Find out more on our website: http://www.scenesystems.com/

It is gross isn't it... But how are we to find out these things without watching them?
You have no possible idea how much information I get sent to me in a day in my personal e-mail. :o ( and NOT spam either)
I first have to try to go through all the letters, notes and requests and personal replies that need addressed and answered to... then late at night I start filtering through all the other things. I wish I had an extra 8 hours in a day just to go through in detail all my other e-mails that are" misc stuff"...
I have the things that local people send to me wanting me to check it out and post it. LOTS of things like that. Why some of the 'lurkers " and "readers only" don't want to post items is a mystery to me.. buuuuttt, they don't. So I do it for them.
Then I have a huge group of Cowboys shooters who are into the History period correct( 1700-1800) cooking and dressing and all of that. So I get all kinds of information sent to me about that. Which is great cause I am a cowboy shooter and all of this comes in handy to know.
Then I have a HUGE HUGE HUGE amount of guys who literally unload truckloads of material on political, 2nd amendment laws and updates, gun information, new guns old guns ammo information and the list goes on and on..
I love all of that too since that is a very large part of my life.
I had someone ask me....." You must stay up all night hunting and finding stuff to post".. :D Nooooooo~~I don't stay up all night hunting..I stay up all night reading my e-mails.. ;D ;D
But I LOVE "em.. so keep them coming.

I'm sitting here enjoying these and listening to one of our best local sub shops burn....a working fire. boo-hoo, what a loss. :'( :P
This video gives you a look into the past. It follows a group of African tribesmen in the Kalahari Desert. Their hunting practices date back to our earliest ancestors.
It's called persistence hunting. It doesn't rely on traps or weapons. It simply pits man's endurance against that of his prey. The hunter chases the animal until it cannot run any further.
This takes incredible tracking skills. And the hunters must be deeply in tune with their prey. It's a skill that almost no one possesses today. It's amazing to watch.
Thanks ,Teresa....how much we can learn. And our ancestors called these people "primitive savages."
This guy thinks he is winning the fight. ;D

Hal Wright... Newsman
Bill Geist met 92 year old Hal Wright, the Publisher, Editor, Reporter, and Photographer for the Sierra Booster Newspaper in Loyalton, Calif. Hal was also the Sierra Booster?s only paperboy, with a very unique way of delivering the news.
LOYALTON, Calif., (1995) — A year after Wilbur and Orville Wright made aviation history in 1903 in Kitty Hawk, N.C., their relative Hal Wright was born far across the country in San Francisco, Calif. Little could anyone know that this Wright, too, would make aviation history.
Hal Wright is the 91-year-old editor and publisher of the tabloid Sierra Booster Newspaper of tiny Loyalton, Calif. He's also a pilot. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), he's the oldest active pilot in the USA.
Earlier in 1995 the FAA tried to ground Wright, refusing to renew his medical certificate. With the help of three doctors and an aviation lawyer, Wright convinced the FAA he was still fit to fly. A half year later, the silver-haired publisher was back in the air, snapping photos one moment, then delivering newspapers the next.
Yes, delivering newspapers. For 35 years, Wright's been California's only flying paperboy — tossing Boosters to remote subscribers from the pilot's seat of his single-engine 1949 Aeronica Sedan. "Sometimes I can hit a front porch," Wright once told me. Then, an hour later, as I rode green-faced and white-knuckled in the back seat, he nearly proved it — dropping the tabloid into the yard of subscriber Josephine Roberti. Later, stopping by her ranch in his spoiler-equipped Camaro, Wright was greeted by Josephine, who produced a recent edition with a page one notation that the paper had been "delivered by air to our front porch by Hal Wright."
The Booster is a folksy, homespun tabloid, published every three weeks, because, says Wright, to publish more often would just mean more work.
Wright is a member of the UFOs — the United Flying Octogenarians — a group of about 175 active pilots 80 years and older. I attended a UFO meeting once, sitting across the table from the then-president who spoke of frequent flights to Baja to drink margaritas. Try as I could, I couldn't speak loud enough for the guy to hear me, even though he was wearing a hearing aid. I remember thinking, "Please, dear Lord, do not put me in an airliner anywhere near this guy."
When I first interviewed Wright in 1981, he told me he'd still be flying 25 years later. I didn't believe him. Now, I wonder.
For a copy of the latest Sierra Booster send $2.00 to P.O. Box 8, Loyalton, CA 96118.
(The story about Hal Wright appeared in Out West #1. The UFOs were profiled in #3)
UPDATE FROM APRIL, 1999: Hal, now 95, is still flying and doing fine. Last September, the students of Loyalton High School videotaped him for a school project. "They showed real class in the questions they asked," said Hal. In October, 1999, Hal will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sierra Booster.
UPDATE FROM JULY 7, 2000. We're sad to report that Hal died on June 24 at the age of 96.

Teresa you are on a roll. Thanks for these last two videos. Very interesting.
I'm not sure if that little boy is reincarnated or he has been to the crossroads*. To play the blues like that on the guitar with only 4 years of experience is truly amazing.
*"Cross Road Blues" is one of Delta Blues singer Robert Johnson's most famous songs. The lyrics plainly have the narrator attempting to hitch a ride from an intersection as darkness falls. But in close association with the mythic legend of Johnson's short life and death, it has come to represent the tale of a blues man going to a metaphorical crossroads to meet the devil to sell his soul in exchange for becoming a famous blues player.

Juggling is difficult in two different ways. One is the physical aspect. It takes amazing dexterity and timing to keep just three balls going. But even when you're good at it, juggling looks sort of goofy. It takes a real artist to make it look good.
Michael Moschen is a real artist. In fact, Moschen helped make juggling a modern theatrical art. There's nothing goofy about this act. But that doesn't mean he isn't funny. In this video, you'll see him juggle inside The Triangle. It's jaw dropping.

Experts claim serious side effects of flu shots amount to about one in a million - well this is what that one in a million looks like. This has freaked me out enough to bypass flu shots in the future. But what do I know - to each their own. This video was featured on CNN of a young girl with incredible drawing talent.

Unfortunately this is not just limited to the flu vaccine. It is also happening with these girls getting that HPV vaccine. It causes the guillian barre syndrome too as well as other neuro diseases.

You know, while I feel for the victims, I have 0 sympathy for the idiot that gets behind the wheel after they have been drinking. Frankly I think the penalty for D.U.I is no where harsh enough.
Driving on the correct side of the road might help too. ;D Had one of our Ladies Auxiliary members struck and killed last Tues. as she crossed a dark intersection. Sadly, it was her own fault. I'll be one of the cooks again at the funeral lunch on Wed. Not a nice way to start the new year. Her mom is a good friend too. Hard to deal with.
I guess what hit me the hardest is... the amount of heart wrenching grief that is involved.. AFTER.. something like this has happened..
If you were not one of the deceased.. there would always be that impossible wish of
" If I could only go back a day....."
The raw pain of losing someone like that.. Or living with the fact that it was your fault.. would be about more than my soul could take.
Sometimes I thank God for giving me the taste buds to actually dislike the taste of whiskey and beer. Because if they tasted like potato chips or any other food I like the taste of.. I would have been screwed.. I don't have much will power to stay away from the "forbidden" stuff.. :-\
Not liking the taste helps immensely.. :)

Sometimes the setting on your virus software or the virus protection on your homepage, ie. Yahoo, etc. changes. When I download something or try to open a picture my Yahoo does a little beep to let me know that I have to choose to have the picture open. If you look up where your tool bars are you may see something that has just popped up and says Options. I have to click the options and choose to "show the pictures on the page", then it will open up the pictures. This is a pain in the butt to me...another example of some stranger trying to protect me from something which I have not asked to be protected from. Anyway, when you try again, see if something has changed up across the toolbars.
This is a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20-year old. The contest was titled "u @ 50" by AARP. This video won second place. When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause. So simple and yet so brilliant. Take a minute and watch it.

This is a classic - I heard it a long time ago. It's a shame that the elites today - captains of industry, jet-setters, politicians, bankers, and the ultra-wealthy - now consider themselves above allegiance to America. This includes Barack Hussein Obama and his shrew Michelle, who refuse to call themselves AMERICANS, but instead THEY call themselves 'citizens of the world'. What an obomination that our PRESIDENT calls one's self a global citizen.

When she went to nashville, it had just started and she got off at the ta truckstop as the interstate had come to a standstill. She went back way to the resort. Little did she realize she would be in the middle of it.

Two young Montana goats wandered onto a 6″ slice of ledge under a railroad bridge and spent two days 60 feet above ground. There was a slightly wider piece of concrete just a few steps away from the female goats but they curiously stayed on the narrowest part – except to urinate. When the the urge came, they made their way to the wider strip of concrete, and then back to their 6″ slice. See the rescue video below.
Goats are funny that way. but they are definately surefooted.
That was awesome ---- I have been reading about this and now we get to see it. Thanks Warph!!!

A friend of the couple who founded Home Instead Senior Care, Mary Maxwell was asked to give the invocation at the company's 2009 Convention. Initially it seemed like a normal prayer, but it soon took a very funny turn. Her deadpan delivery and lines like ...This is the first time I've ever been old... and it just sort of crept up on me ... soon had the franchise owners rolling in the aisles. With the timing of a professional comedian, Mary shines a very funny light on the foibles of aging, to the delight of this audience of senior-care experts.
Sometimes there is a person and their stories (wit) that we relate to so much.... LOL

This is something something truly remarkable.
An armless pianist who plays with his toes has won the first series of China's version of the internationally popular television talent show "China's Got Talent."
Liu Wei, 23, who lost both his arms at age 10 when he was injured by electrical shock during a game of hide-and-seek, defeated 7-year-old standup comedian Zhang Fengxi at the final on Sunday at the Shanghai Stadium, the Shanghai Daily reported.
The pianist, from Beijing, who taught himself to play the piano at age 18, impressed the audience with his performance of "You're Beautiful," singing and using his feet to play the piano.
He also reportedly won over the judges by commenting, "At least I have a pair of perfect legs."
Unless you speak Chinese, zip ahead to about the 2:20 mark to see the prize-winning performance.
he is impressive! remarkable.
Radio Flyer Wagon
ANCHORAGE, Alaska —
A Valley couple took a childhood memory and turned it into a retirement project. Now, they have a Radio Flyer car to drive around town in.
Fred Keller and Judy Foster worked on the car for 11 months, and finished in August of this year, and their ride has been turning heads.
The base of the wagon is a 1976 Mazda pickup truck that Foster inherited from her dad.
The vehicle turns heads everywhere they go.
"I think the words I hear the most often is 'awesome' or 'cool' or people go by and give us a 'hi' sign," Foster said.
The wheels are made from hub caps and detergent bottles, and the steering wheel is the actual wheel from a wagon. The handle rises eight feet high.
Careful of your sound level.............it is kinda loud..

Oh wow, i would love to have breakfasts like that. I love to have critters like that around. I find them just beautiful to be around.
Just so ya know i am NOT a avid hunter, but will hunt to eat. I prefer to watch them than to kill them. :)
Me too actually ( believe it or not.. ) I love to "hunt" deer.. I just hate the "shooting "time.. I sometimes just have to block it out..take a breath and pull the trigger.. then I feel bad for a bit ..and then set out to skin and clean.. after that I'm ok..
but I love to shoot..I mean targets and non living moving things..
.. unless it is squirrel and rabbits.. and my stomach and taste buds overpower my soft heart.. These critters are just powerful tasty for me to get all sentimental... so see?? Don't get too nervous that I have become nice..I'm still the horned witch .. ;D ;D

Terry Fator..
(I'm going to try to get tickets to him this next year when we are in Vegas..)
This is a video that was taped by a person in the audience.. It is a blooper of Terry Fator.. and this guy is laughing so hard the camera is jiggly but it is still a hoot.
Hate to admit it but I did not get the punch line. I couldn't hear it well enough. Who is the Walter dude he is talking about.?
I did enjoy the video and would enjoy going to one of Terry Fator's shows. Thanks Teresa.

Paul Zerdin, ventriloquist without a dummy
The dummy, an indispensable ventriloquist prop, so you would have thought. But no, ventriloquist Paul Zerdin manages without one, with a little help from the audience.

This is absolutely unbelievable...
and when I watched it.. I started to panic.. hate little cramped spaces like this..

Music is part of my soul. My favorite
movie is the Jungle Book where Phill Harris, Louis Prema (sp) dance the jitter-bug and I dare anyone who hears it
to try to sit still............makes my foot itch and I got to dance. My way!
............thanks for sharing.
I love this.................... I couldn't do this for long... maybe not more than 5-6 decades.. LOL
It would be the best of livin' as far as I am concerned.
For some reason.. I do believe this could be old Jarhead and Sarge.. LOL
That looks wonderful. I could enjoy that for months if not years. Just riding along it had me thinking I was there.
And yes, I can picture Jarhead and Sarge in this video.............altho I think the comedy would be more outright funny.LOL
Thanks for the ride-along!
Absolutely amazing...
I feel so inadequate after watching this..
where would we be without dreams? Thanks Teresa. Oh, am I ready to go for a ride!
Man oh man !! I got to build me one of them boat shacks like them Moron brothers have. Ol Sarge could set on the back porch and fish---and flap his jaws---and blow away with his harmonica, and I could set on the front porch---by myself---and have an intelligent conversation-----and catch most of the fish---like always !!!
Aw, that's the biggest bunch of crap I ever heard!! The only reason you say that about talking with yourself is that you're the only one that understand all the half words and mispronunciations that you use. And who would want to listen to all the prevarications that you spout?
right on, jar, most of the best conversations a guy can have is when he is alone. nobody to tell you that you are wrong. or stupid. you can laugh at your own jokes, funny or not. however, I have had a few rainbow trout look at me funny when I lived in Wyoming, sitting on the bank and singing to myself.

You know that Jar is still sitting there staring at the screen scratching his head wondering .. " just what the hell is that there word called prevarications".. ;D ;D
Blondie,
Prevarication--"to speak or act falsely with intent to deceive' but ol Sarge was refering the Latin meaning which is---" to walk crookedly" and I think it's a crying damn shame he makes fun of the way I walk when he knows it's because of the 46 lbs of scrapnel in my legs from stepping on that Boucing Betty in Nam, not to metion the 7 bullets from the Inchon landing in Korea. At least at Iwo Jima I only got shot in the left leg---but a tank did run over my right foot !!!
ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAR STORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Larryj
Larry, what war story ? You act like you think I'm telling a fibber. It aint a war story, it's my war memoir . Don't be doubting my honesty and putting yourself in the same position ol Sarge is in. :)

I've been doing two video countdowns to the 25th reunion of the West Elk Class of 1986, over on my Facebook Page, and I don't know why I didn't remember to terrorize all of you on here with them also.
One countdown is of songs that made it to number 1, the other countdown is of songs that didn't.
These are songs that I played about a 1000 times on the bus to and from school, and to and from all the sporting events, FFA, math contests, etc.
I'm on number 17 today:

Sneak Thief Caught in the Act Where oh where did a mother go wrong? This Scottish youngster is filmed in the act of pilfering just to put food in his mouth.
If only he had gotten an education! Then he might not have to resort to such a devious means of making ends meet. It just makes a mother want to cry to see a life such as this wasted.
Notice how quickly the thief turns to flight when confronted with his dastardly deed.

This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
...
These are the contents of my head""How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I'm sorry for the things I've done
But when I start to try to tell you
That's when you have to tell me
Hey... this kind of trouble's only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don't you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That's why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me...
Why
Why
"I may be mad
I may be blind
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you're thinking
And I've heard is said too many times
That you'd be better off
Besides...
Why can't you see this boat is sinking
(this boat is sinking this boat is sinking)
Let's go down to the water's edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out
Tell me...
Why
Tell me...
Why
"This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
These are the tears...
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel?
'cause i don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know what I feel
I don't think you know what I fear
You don't know what I fear"

Remember this... this was the commercial that introduced the

"Why 1984 Won't Be Like '1984' "
That tagline references George Orwell's 1949 novel 1984, which envisioned a
