I have just heard that the man killed was Doug G. who lived east of Elk Falls. Nothing more. Perhaps it will make the news tonight.
Heather,
I have learned as have you that the fatality was between the Elk County and Montgomery county line. We learned this information from the Kansas Highway Patrol Online Crash site. The fatality was a 36 year old man from Elk Falls.
Good grief. You make it sound like I'm an old woman sitting at home on the telephone gossiping. And that is certainly not how I want to be portrayed.
It is truly sad that the man was killed in the accident. His family will be in my prayers.
Douglas C. Gerding, 36, of Elk Falls died Thursday from injuries he received in a one-car accident on U.S. 160 just west of the Elk County-Montgomery County line.
Gerding's 2006 pickup truck was westbound and for an unknown reason drove off onto the south shoulder, struck the guardrail, continued eastbound airborne across the creek and struck the east side concrete embankment.
The victim was removed to the Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard.
The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
Devyn, that was my fault but don't you know that is all that you and I do do!!! I only have 3 of my own kids and 7 more!!!!!  And you know how much we LOVE DRAMA!!!!!!!
It is sad that this familys loss is mentioned because of a "drama fix".... wow.
I hope if this family ever reads this thread.. they will be embraced with more compassion.

Alisa, I'm going to add to this. I see that you are a new member. I don't know who you are, but you need to know a bit about this forum. We are all "family". When someone hurts or has problems, you will no where find a better bunch to people to come to their rescue. When they hurt, we hurt. When they need help, we help. When they need special prayers, we lift them up. Same goes for those who are not members of this forum. Nuff said.
I was not using this thread as a "drama fix." My name was mentioned in the opening statement as you can read. Recently losing a parent myself, I feel for this family. I was simply brought into this thread by someone else's post and wanted to correct them.
I just feel like the "we love drama" comment is inappropriate for the situation.
sorry devyn i didn't mean to put it in that type of wording that's just what i had typed out what at the moment i had thought of and i am sorry for the way it came off....................
Alisa, I think your comment is appropriate for our consideration. Why we slow down and look or talk about an accident is a long debated topic. I do think that here on the forum it is out of concern for what well may be a person of the Elk County community. It never hurts to think of all the ramifications of our actions. I think we can all agree that our deepest concern and condolences go out to the family and friends of the accident victims.

I am sorry for the way that it sounded. I am so sorry to hear about this man loosing his life. I feel for the family. I have lost both of my parents and know that this is a hard time for this family. I reallly don't even know the guy but feel so bad for the family. The comment wasn't ment to upset anyone or cause a stir. I understand where you get that it is not needed and I am truly sorry. I was just making that comment to Devyn, and not the family. I know that others read this. I didn't mean to come off as uncaring or unkind. That is not the type of person that I am and anyone that knows me would tell you that. So to all out there, I am sorry if it came off like I am uncaring about the family and the situation that is at hand. I am not!!
I pray for the family to be strong and for the Lord to watch over each and everyone of them!! My prayers go out to all the family members during this very difficult time!!
I learned from a patron of Elk Valley that this man had 3 children in the Elk Valley school... please be with this family in this awful time...
