Title: FOR THAT INGREDIENT
Post by: Teresa on May 28, 2008, 02:19:13 PM
FOR THAT INGREDIENT

It has been sitting in your cupboard for an eternity.  That lone can or
package of some ingredient that you bought at one time or another and
never got around to using.  You can't even find the recipe you were going
to use it with.  Now you can find a way to use it without pouring through
piles of recipes.

Go to...
http://allrecipes.com/Search/Ingredients.aspx

Enter the ingredient that you don't have a recipe for, and then hit "Go"
or enter.  You will usually get a good variety of recipes to choose from.
For example, say you had a package of dry leek soup mix that has you at a loss.
Entered it in, and now you'll have some veggie dip recipes and a slow cooked
chicken dish to try.  Hey, I'm guessing if it can come up with recipes for
leek soup mix, then it can come up with recipes for your ingredient.  It's
a great way to clean out your cupboard a bit, without being wasteful.  You
may even find a new favorite recipe

Cranberry Sauce...
   Cranberry BBQ Chicken
   Cranberry Roast
   Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork
   Cranberry Brownies...

Now I'm really hungry!  I have a recipe for meatballs that uses cranberry sauce in the topping, but wasn't in the mood to deal with the mess I make when I cook it.  Now I've got tons of options!  Thanks Teresa!

This is great - gotta find out what I can make that calls for a half a bottle of "hard" onion salt. ;D

Isn't that the truth?
I have to go with it a big container of rock hard garlic powder. It would take a sick of dynamite to get it loose.. and you know what?
I still keep it! Why? It beats the living heck out of me!  ::)
I have a good bottle of it, hat I use..  so guess I should get rid of the other one and quit thinking that "someday, I may need it for an emergency"..
I swear I wonder about myself sometimes.  :-\

Teresa, do you think it would still taste like garlic?  I have always thought spices, etc. were dated and get stale.  Just a thought.

Don't waste it, give it to Tobina to help get rid of her swallows. ;)

hey, garlic powder with that prayer just might work.  never know. AND please explain to me why we take the "hard" bottle off the spice shelf, look at it, say to ourselves wrong bottle, and put it back and get the "good bottle".  I do and bet you do too.  ;D
