What a Black Columnist has to say about Obama.
Ken Blackwell, Columnist for the New York Sun
It's an amazing time to be alive in America . We're in a year of firsts in this presidential election--the first viable woman candidate; the first viable African-American candidate; and, a candidate who is the first front-running freedom fighter over 70. The next president of America will be a first!
We won't truly be in an election of firsts, however, until we judge every candidate by where they stand. We won't arrive where we should be until we no longer talk about skin color or gender. Now that Barack Obama steps to the front of the Democratic field, we need to stop talking about his race, and start talking about his policies and his politics.
The reality is this: Though the Democrats will not have a nominee until August, unless Hillary Clinton drops out, Mr. Obama is now the frontrunner, and it's time America takes a closer and deeper look at him.
Some pundits are calling him the next John F. Kennedy. He's not. He's the next George McGovern. And it's time people learned the facts.
Because the truth is that Mr. Obama is the single most liberal senator in the entire U.S. Senate. He is more liberal than Ted Kennedy, Bernie Sanders, or Mrs. Clinton. Never in my life have I seen a presidential frontrunner whose rhetoric is so far removed from his record. Walter Mondale promised to raise our taxes, and he lost. George McGovern promised military weakness, and he lost. Michael Dukakis promised a liberal domestic agenda, and he lost.
Yet Mr. Obama is promising all those things, and he's not behind in the polls. Why? Because the press has dealt with him as if he were in a beauty pageant. Mr. Obama talks about getting past party, getting past red and blue, to lead the United States of America . But let's look at the more defined strokes of who he is underneath this superficial 'beauty.'
Start with national security, since the president's most important duties are as commander-in-chief. Over the summer, Mr. Obama talked about invading Pakistan, a nation armed with nuclear weapons; meeting without preconditions with Mahmoud Ahmadine jad, who vows to destroy Israel and create another Holocaust; and Kim Jong II, who is murdering and starving his people, but emphasized that the nuclear option was off the table against terrorists--something no president has ever taken off the table since we created nuclear weapons in the 1940s. Even Democrats who have worked in national security condemned all of those remarks. Mr. Obama is a foreign-policy novice who would put our national security at risk.
Next, consider economic policy. For all its faults, our health care system is the strongest in the world. And free trade agreements, created by Bill Clinton as well as President Bush, have made more goods more affordable so that even people of modest means can live a life that no one imagined a generation ago. Yet Mr. Obama promises to raise taxes on 'the rich.' How to fix Social Security? Raise taxes. How to fix Medicare? Raise taxes. Prescription drugs? Raise taxes. Free college? Raise taxes. Socialize medicine? Raise taxes. His solution to everything is to have government take it over. Big Brother on steroids, funded by your paycheck!
Finally, look at the social issues. Mr. Obama had the audacity to open a stadium rally by saying, 'All praise and glory to God!' but says that Christian leaders speaking for life and marriage have 'hijacked' - hijacked - Christianity. He is pro-partial birth abortion, and promises to appoint Supreme Court justices who will rule any restriction on it unconstitutional. He espouses the abortion views of Margaret Sanger, one of the early advocates of racial cleansing. In Illinois , he refused to vote against a statewide ban--ban on all handguns in the state. These are radical left, Hollywood , and San Francisco values, not Middle America values.
The real Mr. Obama is an easy target for the general election. Mrs. Clinton is a far tougher opponent. But Mr. Obama could win if people don't start looking behind his veneer and flowery speeches. His vision of 'bringing America together' means saying that those who disagree with his agenda for America are hijackers or warmongers. Uniting the country means adopting his liberal agenda and abandoning any conflicting beliefs.
But right now everyone is talking about how eloquent of a speaker he is and - yes - they're talking about his race. Those should never be the factors on which we base our choice for president. Mr. Obama's radical agenda sets him far outside the American mainstream, to the left of Mrs. Clinton.
It's time to talk about the real Barack Obama. In an election of firsts, let's first make sure we elect the person who is qualified to be our president in a nuclear age during a global civilizational war.
And who do you support and why?
I'm not supporting any of the candidate but I will have to vote against either Obama or Clinton.
Dee Gee, that may be the thinking of most reasonable Americans.
I am not pleased with any of the candidates, as I have plainly stated before. Personally, I was leaning towards John Edwards, were he to win the nomination, and now in light of this weeks events, he's not really someone I'm happy with. Maybe as it gets closer to election, things will become clearer and it will be easier to make a choice. I certainly hope so anyhow. I would like to have my mind made up before I go to the polls.
I am with you on that one Flo. There isn't a clear GOOD candiadate. I just don't know what to do, but I know I will vote!! Just not sure, WHO!!! :-\ :-\

are you really ready for four more years of Bush?
I've kept my mouth shut on all the political opinions... and I probably should now. But, I have to agree with Flo. Voting against Clinton or Obama is 4 more years of McSame. The Bush administration has trashed America... can anybody with a logical, thinking brain actually want 4 more years of failed policy - failed economic policy, failed foreign policy, just plain failure? I just don't get it.
Is anyone excited by the Libertarian candidate who announced last week?
No, I'm not ready for another 4 years of Bush but I do think McCain is a better choice than either Obama or Clinton again.
If you care anything at all about your 2nd amendment rights you won't vote for Obama..or Clinton. But Obama is worse on that than Clinton.. and she is bad.
Take away your right to protect your family, yourself and your property and you will never see such evil to humankind abound in the world.
The constitution guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear arms. The president, any president cannot change the constitution. The constitution may be changed only through congress then ratified by all the states.
Senator Obama has said that he would like to rid Washington of the numerous lobbists. The NRA is a huge lobbyist and is behind much of the gun rights activity we hear about. I suspect that next to big oil, they are among one of the largest lobbying groups.
Senator Obama has said that he does not want to take the guns from people.
And we all KNOW a politician would NEVER lie just to get elected..........
I will vote for whom I think is the best person to put in office. Right now Mrs."I can lie about anything"Clinton is not the one. She stood by her man that was impeached but never put out of office. He lied under oath and she stood by her man.Ladies would any of you let your husbands get but with that? I for one think not.
Does any one really think she can deal with terrorist? Do you think she can tell the truth when talking with them? Do not get me wrong, if the right woman would run I would be the first to vote for her, but you watch Clintons eyes and hand motions you can see she is not real. If we women fall for the trap of voting for her because she is a women God save us all.
I hope this makes sense, it really gets me when women will vote for her just because she is a women and not for what she can do for our country.
I must agree; I would like to see a woman in the whitehouse, but I want it to be someone I can be proud of. Senator Clinton has entirely too much baggage in my estimate. Surely our gender can do better than that. She could never compare to Golda Miere or Maggie Thatcher. Maybe someday we can do better and get a woman president we can look up to!
::) ??? I wasn't aware president Clinton was impeached. Just guilty of womanizing, which most every politian has done at one time or the other. It's just that his "gal" decided to make a name for herself. Personally I don't put much faith in a "kiss and tell" person, as the more sensational they make it, the bigger the publicity she gets. A lot of woman "stand by their man" as you put it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Hillary fan, yet anyhow.
Bill Clinton was impeached by the House and aquitted by the senate. Yes he was impeached.
William Jefferson Clinton was, indeed, impeached.
His impeachment was the second of a President in the history of the United States.
Although he is a womanizer, apparently without equal, his impeachment was not for that offense.
His impeachment was for lying while under oath.
A good part of Hillary's baggage is Bill, himself.
Let's not forget our dear Vice President Dick Cheney and is top aide Scooter Libby. I believe those men as well as other White House officials should have faced some sort of punishment for a far worse crime that could have potentially put a family as well as a government agency in danger. The outing of a CIA secret agent. This was done shortly after the Valerie Plame's husband criticized the Bush administration. Coincidence, I think not! Boy, I love how the Good Ole Boys like to cover for each other. Makes me have a lot of faith in the system!!!
And I love how so many conservatives, avoid these topics!! Can anyone say Haliburton? Oh how easily that was forgotten! As I remember it Cheney was CEO of Halliburton when it was acused of bribing and selling parts to Iraq as well as defrauding our government. Sounds like the perfect conservative!! This probably should have been posted on Warphs blog of characteristics of what conservatives want in office. Oh well.
You know, I have learned through the years that there is just no use in "arguing" about Politics, or Religion. You're not going to change my mind, I'm not going to change your mind. We are what we are by virtue of "life's lessons," and the knowledge we've gained in our lifetime. So, those who want to "vent," go ahead and "vent," but I don't think you'll hear or see me in the "line of fire!" That is just my take on it, anybody/everybody else "hop to it!" I sure as heck don't want to lose friends over either subject, Politics or Religion.
Part of the problem now is that President Bush has madee a mockery of the constitutional rights of the citizens of this country. He has called black white and white black. We are is need of a president who will support the Constitution and the civil rights of American citizens. We can say we have the right to bear arms, but that was not true during the Katrina disaster and it was not true during the Greensburg disaster.

http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=66551746-3048-5C12-00921D2BE9528C54QuoteBarack Obama's presidential campaign has worked to assure uneasy gun owners that he believes the Constitution protects their rights and that he doesn't want to take away their guns.
But before he became a national political figure, he sat on the board of a Chicago-based foundation that doled out at least nine grants totaling nearly $2.7 million to groups that advocated the opposite positions.
The foundation funded legal scholarship advancing the theory that the Second Amendment does not protect individual gun owners' rights, as well as two groups that advocated handgun bans. And it paid to support a book called "Every Handgun Is Aimed at You: The Case for Banning Handguns."
Obama's eight years on the board of the Joyce Foundation, which paid him more than $70,000 in directors fees, do not in any way conflict with his campaign-trail support for the rights of gun owners, Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for Obama's presidential campaign, asserted in a statement issued to Politico this week.
Seven of the grants were awarded when Obama served on the board. Where did the money go?
* $2.5 million went to the Violence Policy Center, which has campaigned for a national ban on all handguns.
* $20,000 paid to publish Every Handgun Is Aimed at You: The Case for Banning Handguns
* $10,000 went to another gun-banning group, Handgun-Free America
And his church and former pastor (Wright) have backed anti-gun efforts in Chicago for years. Last year, Wright and the senior pastor from St. Sabina Church, Michael Pfleger, protested at a gun store in Chicago.
Given that an estimated 46% of the Democratic party own at least one firearm and there are two anti-gun candidates running for the Democratic party nomination, they may have an interesting convention. I guarantee you Obama and Clinton will always have guns in their homes as well as 24/7 armed guards to protect them and their families.
Why should they give a damn about your right to have one as long as they are protected and their political goal is acquired.
.Pro-gun indeed.... NOT!
Wish I could take credit for this post.. but I can't..for I didn't write it.
But I couldn't have said it better myself.
---Quote---"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
What's wrong with you people, can't you see that he is right?
For how could he be wrong, when he is a Harvard-educated, politically and socially enlightened "Man of the People"; a modern-day Messiah sent to lead us poor fools into a new era!
Pshaw on those quaint notions set in a Constitution written by dead men more than two centuries ago; merely so much crumbling paper burning in the fires of time and change, to Obama and his informed and oh-so-enlightened supporters.
Pshaw on our need to embrace such superstitions as are promulgated in our Churches, surely that is only our own fear of the dark, our fear of change, and our need to be sheltered from our xenophobic terrors that forces us to be so.. unwielding in the face of his reason and rationality. No doubt if we had benefitted from his own good reverend of 20 years, we might have a viewpoint more in line with the Great Man's himself.
His compassion prompts a deeper understanding of our psychologies than we inferiors can even realize; his intellect can explain away our resistance to be assimilated in to the movement, and he would surely be smug in his nearly super-human ability to comprehend our self-imposed plight if not for his superior moral footing - no doubt provided in part by his pastor of two decades, Rev. Wright.
What a guy! So let us change and throw down our outdated concepts:
We must work harder and pay even higher taxes so that more "immigrants" may enjoy our health services and schools. We must understand that it is not fair to have a higher standard of living than those beyond our borders, so we must erase these barriers totally. And we must ban the labeling of people as "Illegal Aliens" and call the utterance of such words Hate Speech, and condemn it.
We must destroy our guns because by having guns we force "disadvantaged youths" to find their own guns and express their justifiable anger at us for having possessions they want by robbing us. Only when we have nothing they want, and nothing to threaten them with, will peace reign in the inner cities!
Finally, as is said "..And the children shall lead" we must look to the throngs of young people who are flocking to the Great Sheperd's cause, and follow their wisdom. They are unfettered by the need to support themselves, being ensconced by their bourgeois parents and haven't been damaged by the toil of experience, so they have a clarity of spirit we lack.
Perhaps we might devote ourselves as they do in their worshipful contemplation of Him and so lose the last of outmoded superstitions; we might even attain a state of grace close to Obama's ourselves, one where we too may see statements such as "Goddamn America" as the welcomed spiritual guidance worthy of inspiring the man who would lead us all.
Boy did you hit the nail on the head! That's exactly what is goin wrong with this country is young people comin up who have NOT had to work for what they have. They have no concept of real life outside the gated communities they grew up in. They fall for any line of crap that catches their fancy for the moment, but the other side of that is they drop it almost as soon, so Obama wants to watch out or he'll be out of style before he knows it lol. Just hope they find a new guru BEFORE they TOTALLY screw it up:P
This is a bit unnerving....
There is more to the paragraphs of course..as they came form his books..
but he wrote these words.............
And THAT... is what stays in my mind.
Interesting WE are the ones accused of being racist..
This guy wants to be our President and control our government.
Pay close attention to the last comment!!
Below are a few lines from Obama's books, his words:
From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.
From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'
From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.
From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

People, better wake up cause the political winds have definately shifted in an ugly direction.
Got this from a forum member
Obama's "Not Exactly's": This person is more dangerous than any candidate in recent years....
1.) Selma Got Me Born - NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe
enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as
Selma was in 1965. (Google'Obama Selma' for his full March 4,
2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)
2.) Father Was A Goat Herder - NOT EXACTLY, he was a
privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan
Government.
3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter - NOT EXACTLY, he
was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has
ever had.
4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - NOT
EXACTLY, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting
to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first
widespread violence in decades. The current government is pro-American
but Odinga wants to overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your
half-brother, Abongo Obama, is Odinga's follower. You interrupted your
New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on the phone. Check out
the following link for verification of that....and for more.
Obama's cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and
tried to get Sharia muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the
elections, his followers have burned Christians' homes and then burned
men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took
shelter.. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here
started. Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get. No one wants to know
the truth.
5.) My Grandmother Has Always Been A Christian - NOT
EXACTLY, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own
interviews. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn't allow her to have been
one of 14 wives to 1 man.
6.) My Name is African Swahili - NOT EXACTLY, your name is
Arabic and 'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means
'blessed' in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.
Barack Hussein Obama is! not half black. If elected, he
would be the first Arab-American President, not the first black
President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side
and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side. While
Barack Hussein Obama's father was from Kenya, his father's family
was mainly Arabs.. Barack Hussein Obama's father was only 12.5% African
Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father's birth certificate even states
he's Arab, not African Negro). From....and for more....go to.....

7.) I Never Practiced Islam - NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it
daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that
faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run
for office. 4-3-08 Article "Obama was! 'quite religious in
islam'"
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=60559
8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian - NOT EXACTLY, you
were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic
Studies for making faces (check your own book).
February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York Times a
year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to
prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed
delightfully uncalculated (it'll give Alabama voters heart attacks),
Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as "one of the prettiest
sounds on Earth at sunset." This is just one example of what Pamela
is talking about when she says "Obama's narrative is being altered,
enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts."
9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian - NOT EXACTLY, not one
teacher says you could speak the language.
10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign
Experience - NOT EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and
couldn't even speak the language. What did you learn, how to study the
Koran and watch cartoons.
11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs - NOT EXACTLY, except
for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have
never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience
with our closest allies.
12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion - NOT
EXACTLY, you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no
mention of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify - your
classmates said you were just fine.
13.)An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office - NOT
EXACTLY, Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It
doesn't, and never did, exist.
14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life -
NOT EXACTLY, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your
book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.
15.) I Won't Run On A National Ticket In '08 - NOT
EXACTLY, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have
enough experience by then, and you are all about having experience first.
16.) Voting "Present" is Common In Illinois
Senate - NOT EXACTLY, they are common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.
17.) Oops, I Misvoted - NOT EXACTLY, only when caught by
church groups and Democrats, did you beg to change your misvote.
18.) I Was A Professor Of Law - NOT EXACTLY, you were a
senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer - NOT EXACTLY, you were
a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.
20.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill - NOT
EXACTLY, you didn't write it, introduce it, change it, or create it.
21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass - NOT EXACTLY, it
took just 14 days from start to finish.
22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill - NOT EXACTLY, your bill
! was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all
regulation - mainly because of your Nuclear donor, Exelon, from which
David Axelrod came.
23.) I Have Released My State Records - NOT EXACTLY, as of
March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be
released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.
24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess - NOT
EXACTLY, you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld
Gardens. You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.
25.) My Economics Bill Will Help America - NOT EXACTLY,
your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which
lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.
26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois - NOT EXACTLY,
even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.
27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year - NOT EXACTLY,
they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their
creation by a fellow Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher
office.
28.) No One on my campaign contacted Canada about NAFTA -
NOT EXACTLY, the Canadian Government issued the names and a memo of the
conversation your campaign had with them.

This quote is indeed from Audacity Of Hope written by Barack Obama, however it has been butchered beyond recognition. It comes frome page 261 and is as follows;
Of course not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
That is the quote and the paragraph it was pulled from and altered. I have to question the others as this one is so outrageous. I also question the wisdom of importing every piece of garbage found on a candidate form all sorts of unproven sources. As a rule, I check with Snopes on everything that is questionable, but in this case I saw this article on My Space when it was widely debunked. Edie.
Sorry, I messed the above posting up. The first line is the quoted line from the first posting in this thread. The rest is my response and I am responsible for it. Sorry for any confusion, Edie.
Thanks Edie for giving us "the rest of the story". One of the downsides of the internet is that so many rumours get turned into facts. We all (myself included) really need to research and verify before we pass on information.
I still say he is the most dangerous man alive to have for our president.
I agree with you Teresa.... he scares me big time!
Agreed. If I am wrong about him, I will apologize. But the stakes are to high to take the chance in my opinion. If the people we see screaming on that pulpit are going to be the people we see going in and out of the White House, giving "spiritual" counsel, that alone is enough for me. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion..............but, I have the right to listen to it, draw my conclusions from it and cast my vote, my way.
Bro'O will rationalize this as "just words".
Like "bitter people clinging to their religion or guns". Just words.
Like when he referred to his grandmother as a "typical white person". Just words.
Like when he said he could no more "disown" the Rev. Wright then he could the black church. Just words.
Like his wife saying we are a "mean country" and for the first time in her life she is proud to be an American. Just words.
Like a speech that he plagiarized. Just words.
Obama is like Humpty Dumpty who to paraphrase said, "Words mean what I want them to mean, nothing more and nothing less." Should Obama become president, we may need all the King's horses and all the King's men to put our country back together again ... after "just words".
Just words. ;)
So, I'm watching Barack make his "victory nomination" speech and I am trying to keep my supper down. :P
This is just downright scary. When did Americans become so blind to what the future will hold for them? Did a genetic misfire put lemmings into the DNA of Americans. These people are going off the cliff and are cheering about it.
Most liberal Senator? That's him.
Will raise all our taxes? Ditto,...
Socialize medicine? Hello....
Restrict firearms by type, capacity, price, color, style? You bet!
Retreat from Iraq? WHAT??! :o
If I hear "From the South side of Chicago,...." 1 more time,.... >:( >:( >:(
I'm afraid for this countries future and this speech is the most scripted bunch of BS I've heard from another politician.
This "Pie in the sky" that people are cheering about is thick. ( I need my waders! )
I'm going to pray more starting tonight, ........God help us.
Well... I'm done for awhile... *rant off*
by Patrick J. Buchanan
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.
Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.
This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.
Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no government anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.
Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks -- with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas -- to advance black applicants over white applicants.
Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?
Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks.
Let him go to Altoona and Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were vis ited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for 'deserving' white kids.
Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?
Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?
We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.
had read this before but it is still "the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. By the way, another ironic. I posted in the "genealogy" catagory about a gentleman who left a note on a grave of a Smith in Eureka. Guess what? His name is Dale Smith. :)
I am glad you posted this, Dale. Truth in every sentence. What bothers me the most is, Why can't we, as John Q. Citizen, have a place to vent our feelings and post our words and thoughts to "The powers that be"? All the thoughts and feelings we have, cannot be sent directly to the ones that stand up and want to do the thinking for all of us, and spout their words of wisdom, when in truth they have no connection to what we want, and what we need to hear from them, yet they have not a clue as to what our thoughts are. In all the speeches that we have heard over and over for the past "forever" months, no one was asked to speak, and give the thoughts of the common ordinary public. We only heard what they thought we wanted.
Well, for one, I am sick to death of "the poor black folk" and "the poor white folk" Let them get off the down and crying mat and do something that the rest of the population is doing --- Put your big boy and girl panties on and do something for yourself.
Guess I'll let my blood pressure rest a bit - and go hookup the iron and get busy at the ironing board.
Jo, as usual well said. You always get to the facts, it also helps that you think the same as we do in most cases or we think the same as you do. Do you think that Howard Kansas, Longton, Elk County raising and good values may have had anything to do with. My Dad was a tough task Master and he never minced many words, his Philosophy was if you want it work for it, if you don't want to work for it or you can't earn it you don't need it, and he meant it.
Frank
Well said mama.
We must never ever let government forget!
We are "THE PEOPLE"....
Yes, Frank, that is the way the majority of us were raised in small town America. Also -- if you had $1.00 then you didn't spend 2...and another saying was "make do or do without", and believe me, in Fred and my lives that saying has come into play more times than I like to recall. lol lol
If one earned what they had - I truly do believe it was appreciated much more, than if it was given to you.
This is the truth that needs to be said, all across the country. I'm with you Jo. I'm so tired of hearing.....What about the poor?, every time a good idea comes up for most of us. Keeping them all feeling like helpless victims, is what is keeping them all where they are. And the ones, who rise above it, get put down by the ones who don't, instead of looking to them as an example. >:(
I am totally confused! What does this have to do with Barack Obama being the democratic presidential nominee? Welfare recipients are racially divided at White=64%, and black =36 %. Of course in some areas those figures will be skewed the other way, since here in Elk county we have racial division of 95% White, and 5% of other than White. Truthfully I do not think one black family now resides in Elk county. Therefore, statistically speaking, 95% of the welfare recipients in Elk county are white. The federal budget devotes 14% to welfare, not a lot, but more than I would desire. White america as well as black america need to take responsibility for the sharp decline of the underclasses. The number one offender is drugs! And the gangs that import and sell drugs! And the groups that enable these people to stay in business! How many times have we seen a promising student just go down the drain due to drugs. But it is only a little wacky backy, just a little coke, horse or meth.
We see a co-mingling of right wing groups that support open borders, ( no more laws please), free gun trade and the free movement of people. Have a look-see at the prison population in California. They are dedicated hard core gangs. Being in prison does not stop the operations, but enhances the perpetrator. Mix that all up with Posse Comitatus and religion and you have an unhappy soup. Support all these things with political pacs and we don't have a chance of getting America back! I grew up in a country where I could walk the several miles to the middle of our small city. Didn't have to worry as nobody was gonna bother me. I went to school where there were no security guards, not one! We didn't have locker shake downs, didn't need 'em. Of course we didn't see umpteen deaths everyday on the boob tube, and thought Jane Russell in the haystack was too risque. In fact it was considered too raw to be shown on the local movie screens. But of course we cannot have any laws restricting what youngsters see or participate in. Ron Paul you know. Gotta have smaller government. It is true we have far more legislation than we really need. But as the populace grows and changes we must legislate and as Americans we can no more allow the least of us to be treated any worse than the best. Off the soap box now.
you know what, the government is not who should be sayin what my kids can or can't see. I do. The government is not who should be tellin my kids to get a job. I do. The government should not raise my kids. I do and did. And they are raisin their kids the same way I raised them. The same way my parents raised me.
You know what... my boys watched freddie Kreuger and Jason and all the horror movies that were popular then, they listened to heavy metal, same as I did and do. They had a few beers and smoked a little weed same as I did. You know what? They outgrew it same as I did and they go to work everyday, pay their bills, take care of their kids the same as I did and the government didn't have a damn thing to do with it.
you know what? My sons had guns! I gave em to em. I taught them how to handle them and their uncle taught them how to hunt. I have guns, my dad taught me how to handle them and my grandpa taught me how to hunt. Guess what, the government didn't have anything to do with that either and none of us has shot anybody or become an mass murderer.
Common sense and personal responsibility.....that's what I was taught by my parents, that's what my kids were taught by me, and that's what they are teachin their kids. Guess what..... the government didn't have to tell any of us how to do it.
family is the answer and the sad fact of the matter is that the gangbangers are gangbangers because that is the closest thing to family they have ever known.
i swear the more I write the more CONFUSED I get, the answer is family not government but I don't know how to say what I'm thinkin. maybe I've kinda made my point I don't know.
You are correct it is the family responsibility to teach the children what is acceptable and how to behave. I feel that the general society has failed in this respect.
I don't really think it's society in general.....I know too many people who were raised just like me and are raisin their kids the same way. What I'm gonna say next is probly gonna start a storm but I really think it is rooted in the quest for material possessions that so many people are caught up in. A lot of kids have got lost in the race to the top their parents are makin and a lot of kids have got lost in the race to steal what you can't afford that some people have fallen into. The whole world seems to revolve around havin the "right" stuff. The guy that dies with the most toys don't REALLY win, he's just dead. If that same guy blew off teachin and lovin and spendin time with his kids then he's way poorer than the "poor" guy who did teach and love and spend time with his kids instead of tryin to get a hummer or a 52million room house so the neighbors would think he was special. It's kinda hard to teach your kids SELF-worth if you don't have any and think the only thing that makes you worthwhile is how much stuff you have. And people who don't value themselves don't value other people, which brings it to what we have in the world today. But that's just my opinion and I COULD be wrong :P
By golly girl, I do believe you're on to something there!
I totally agree with you Pam, on all points! However I cannot agree that Freddie Kruger is a fit baby sitter for children whose parents don't give a rats' patootie! That is how Columbine occurred. Stuff isn't love for sure, and many families do not know how to love, in fact do not know how to live! But, I hesitate to say that it's okay for kids to watch that stuff. Maybe yours turned out okay, and have become responsible citizens. But I cannot agree that it is okay to lay a loaded gun on the sidewalk, and expect children to do the correct thing. Kids are kids and one-upmanship is alive and well among youths. As far as gangs are concerned, I am not speaking of the street corner do-wop group, but the hard core gangs like Hells' Angels, Bloods, MS (can't remeber the rest of it), and all the others who send diciples throughout the land for recruits. These are the groups that are responsible for the drug trafficing, and it is these groups that are infiltrating the right wing groups in our country. Check it out!
P.S. Just to assure you that I have been handling guns my entire life, have brought home my share of game for the table. But guns are not the point of my existence, and do not indicate freedom to me. I refuse to feel paranoid in my world. I drove back and forth third shift in the city for many years. Never a problem, not once.
I need to brag a bit here. When you raise your children you teach them the right things to do and caution them about wrong choices. You wonder if you are doing a good job parenting but you do the best you can. I'm here to tell you that I am very very proud of all my girls and Pam especially. Yes, I figured she'd tried the alcohol and weed. Any parent who thinks their child as a teenager would never do that, get your head out of the sand. Most everybody's child will try it at least once. One daughter tried it more than once and got caught. ;D Her dad made her watch it going down the toilet. I'm sure she tried it again. But over all, our parenting skills produced three fantastic girls who are raising, or have raised their children and now are passing on "words of wisdom" to help raise their grandchildren. They are all free thinkers and that is a good thing. All are quick to voice their opinions, and that is a good thing. They were never told they had to follow our political beliefs or our religious beliefs. That was a decision for them to make when they were old enough. They done a darn good job. Thanks for listening to a few words from this proud mom. This doesn't have a lot to do with Obama, matter of fact nothing to do with Obama, but Pam has expressed her opinions on here several times and every post has made good sense, to me anyhow, whether I agreed with her or not.
8) Thanx Ma! You done a pretty awesome job of bein a mom too:)
(Tongue in cheek)---We need a separate thread for mother/daughter adoration! How about it? ;) ;)
>:(
ah-oh....(http://www.cascity.com/howard/animations/11.gif)
((((hiding behind the bushes, shaking terrible bad..peeking out with big round hoot owl eyes)))
;D
I think the mother/daughter adoration is wonderful and I enjoy seeing it. It reminds me of the wonderful relationship I had with my beloved mother. This year marks 40 years since her passing. I think of her every day. If she were still here we would be having these same conversations.
Oh people! I was kidding! I think mother daughter adoration is wonderful. I just wish my own mama were here, I miss her so much!
I was kidding too... I was just being a smart ass... ( like ahhh what else is new? )
My mother, sister and I share that deep closeness and protectiveness that can not be replaced by anyone.
And I am very proud of all mothers and daughters and sons and also fathers..who step up to the plate and bat a home run!
The Democrats head off on legislative accomplishments.....
This was before Hillary backed down.
You all know that I am NOT a liberal... but...
I actually think that Hillary would have been less destructive to our nation than Obama will be.
Poor Obama.. He is a hell of a speaker.. and he has "different race" in his corner...but.................he has zip for experience in personal defense and zip in experience in world affairs. ..and his lets all set down with the American hating Muslims.. have cake and "talk about it" is .......well , how does down right scary sound?
In my opinion.. he is not capable of being the leader of our great nation.
All this mother-daughter adoration bores me, but I am just jealous because Janet doesn't have the time to show you all her adoration of me.
