Title: Michele Obama
Post by: Warph on April 14, 2008, 02:27:09 AM
I received this email this morning:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/thesis.asp

Claim: Access to Michele Obama's senior thesis has been restricted until after the 2008 Presidental election (Nov. 5, 2008 to be precise, the day after the election)

Status:  Was True

MICHELE OBAMA'S MILITANT RACISM REVEALED

In her senior thesis at Princeton, Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on "crime and hatred". Moreover, she stated that whites in America were "ineradicably racist".   The 1985 thesis, titled "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community" was written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.

Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to "Whites at Princeton , it often seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first..." However, it was reported by a fellow black classmate, "If those "Whites at Princeton " really saw Michelle as one who always would "be Black first," it seems that she gave them that impression".

Most alarming is Michele Obama's use of the terms "separationist" and "integrationist" when describing the views of black people.
Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a "separationist" view of race.
["By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight."]

Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to her ["further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant."]

Michele Obama clearly has a chip on her shoulder.

Not only does she see separate black and white societies in America , but she elevates black over white in her world.

Here is another passage that is uncomfortable and ominous in meaning:
["There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost."]

What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she's first lady that will elevate black over white in America?
The following passage appears to be a call to arms for affirmative action policies that could be the hallmark of an Obama administration.
["Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments."]

The conclusion of her thesis is alarming.

Michelle Obama's poll of black alumni concludes that other black students at Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness. But rather than celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common American culture more than they value the color of their skin. ["I hoped that these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a certain level of identification with the black community. However, these findings do not support this possibility."]

Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire? Only 89 students responded out of 400 who were asked for input.  Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd of Obama supporters and see Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted with one another.  The thesis provides a trove of Mrs. Obama's thoughts and world view seen through a race-based prism.  This is a very divisive view for a potential first lady that would do untold damage to race relations in this country in a Barack Obama administration.
Michelle Obama's intellectually refined racism should give all Americans pause for deep concern.
Now maybe she's changed, but she sure sounds like someone with an axe to grind with America . Will the press let Michelle get a free pass over her obviously racist comment about American whites?  I am sure that it will.  But it shouldn't.

I am not saying that I am a supporter of the Obamas.  I have yet to decide where my vote will go.  I truly don't know.  This is a very confusing election!  There is no one candidate (either republican or democrat) that stands out to me.

With that said, I don't believe that you can hold something against a person that they said 22 years ago.  Well, let me correct that statement, some people can hold that against others simply because they themselves might be unforgiving people and incapable of  emotional growth and understanding of their fellow man.

I know that my idealistic beliefs from 20 years ago (when I  was so ready to fix the world of what I believed to be its injustices) have changed.  When you are in college, you are filled with so much information about what is going on in the world (other than your little corner of the world) that you become determined to solve those issues.  I am sure that as a black, well-educated woman, she wanted to take on any injustices against her race.

When I look back on my views of the world and the things I said and did when I was in college, I could be persecuted "today".   I don't believe that it is fair to hold comments that were made over 20 years ago against someone today!!!  No matter who they are, republican or democrat.

You have a point, Mom. All of us have said stuff that we don't want anybody to hold against us. Personally, I wish there was some ol boy runnin for president that actually KNEW what it's like down here in the trenches with the rest of us, tryin to make it from paycheck to paycheck and just keep groceries on the table. Most of our politicians are from families that may have been poor once upon a time but it's been a good while and they are out of touch with the real world of day to day. But that would be a perfect world and we all know it ain't so..............................

There are quite a few people that still look at a person and judge them by appearance first. Many of the older generation can't honestly say that they haven't used the expression "for a black man".  Such as "For a black man, he is very intellectual" or "She speaks quite eloquently for a black woman."  I've heard it many, many times in this community.  So Michelle's thesis about to many she is seen first as black is totally correct.  You cannot judge those whose life you know nothing about!!

This presidential election has NOTHING to do with the color of skin, although some people would like to make it one.  Also, black people are called "black" because that is their request.  Never under stood that cause we don't refer to other races by the color of their skin ( except for their reference to "white" people.

Lol, labeling people is what we do, Obama is the black candidate, Hillary is the woman candidate, Mc Cain is the POW candidate, This ones Irish so they must drink, This ones French so they must be arrogant, This ones Native American so they must drink AND do drugs, This ones Chinese so they must be Communist etc. etc. It's the human condition to judge and until we change THAT nothing else is ever gonna change

Isn't that what Michelle Obama was saying, that no matter what she does in life ( just like anyone else) she will first be perceived as a black woman. And that she would like to help out her race by impowering them so that they are perceived first by their accomplishments.

So for those that say race or gender shouldn't matter in these elections, you are absolutely right.  However, it's the same people that are saying it can't be helped to judge someone by their appearance.

By the way I am a blond, female of German/Irish desent.  So what do you think of me now?!!?!! LOL!!!

My opinion, not meant to offend anyone.
